DW and I are debating doing a family trip over Christmas/NY of 2014 (yes, almost two years away). What I'd like to do is chart air fares for Christmas/NY of 2013 to get an idea of the "best time to book" and what historical prices are since we're thinking about going somewhere we haven't been before.
So, do you think looking at "the Saturday before Christmas to the Saturday after Christmas" would be comparable year to year or would it need to be specific dates (ie: Dec. 21 to Dec. 28).
Yes, it's probably a lot of work for nothing. But I think the information could be interesting. I hope to simply go to Travelocity once a week (probably on a Tuesday), note the cheapest prices for the flights in a spreadsheet, and then compare them over Christmas.
