We haven't been to Disney in 10 years! We've previously stayed at the former Dixie Landings, and Caribbean Beach Resort. The "kids", now 17 and 15 don't remember Riverside at all, and BARELY remember CBR. We are planning a very quick visit at the end of January (4 nights). Price wise, I want to stay in a moderate. Which would you pick? I was thinking Port Orleans only because I've never stayed there, but since we won't likely have much time to just be hanging out at the resort, I don't know if it matters. We just need access to a food court for breakfast (will be using the Free Dining...yea!!!! for lunch and dinner). If memory serves me correctly, none of the moderate have great bus stops. I think the value resorts had the closest stops at all the parks, so that wouldn't matter.

Anything I'm not thinking of to help me decide??

We have stayed at Riverside for the past 3 years. We love that resort. The scenery is awesome and the food court is adequate. They have 4 bus stops, so even though the resort is huge, you do not have to walk far.

I have also heard that CBR is nice, but they may have conventions going on. The food court is suppose to be better. They also have multiple bus stops.

We've stayed at all four moderates and my favorite is Port Orleans French Quarter. It is more compact than the other moderates and I love the theming. Second choice is PORS. Sometimes those two resorts share the bus service -- not always. These are sister resorts, so you can use the pool and other amenities at each if you are staying at one. The boat to Downtown Disney is a nice feature. My DD, who is 17, prefers PORS to POFQ for the food court primarily.

CBR comes in 3rd and CSR comes in 4th for me. Not that they are "bad" resorts; I just don't like how spread out they are and I don't care for the convention business at the CSR.

You should take a look at the photos for the resorts and see which theme appeals to you. Everyone will have different opinions.

Actually, the value bus stops are usually the furthest away. We've only stayed at the Coronado (CSR) and love everything about it (we've stayed nine times). If the CSR were not available, our only other choice of a moderate would be the POR-Riverside.

I'd suggest Port Orleans French Quarter - we really liked their delicious food items at the food court (both the fried chicken and the pizza were worth writing home about!) and it's a small, compact resort with boat access to DTD. Also, while it picks up passengers at POR, you're the very first stop to get on so you're pretty much guaranteed a seat.

We thought it was a very nice resort and enjoyed the live music as well. I'd suggest it over POR, myself.

When we were last there, 10 years ago, the moderates had the bus stops that were the furthest away. I remember our feet killing us, but having to walk and walk.....That would make sense, though, to have the less expensive resorts (I can't call them cheap!) furthest away.

I'm thinking we would probably only use the food court for breakfast, as we'd probably be in the parks for lunch and dinner.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.
