O.k., Dis-experts!

My DH has to have his vacation request for 2008 in this week. Which week in September would you choose?

We're looking for lowest crowds and would like to attend MNSSHP. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks!!!!

:disrocks:

I would do either the week of labor day if you dont have kids because it is the least crowded but you will miss mnshp and the food and wine or the last week so you can do both. The 3rd week is the dvc member cruise so it will be busy the beginning and end of the week.

Good luck.

I would say last week of Sept. Better chance of hitting Mickeys No So Scary Party. IMHO, it is the best hard ticket event. The parade is cool, the fireworks show is the best, and you get free candy. :yay:

We went this year from 9/14 - 9/22. Now, don't get me wrong, we did have a great time. Afterall, it is Disney World and we are Disney fanatics, but it was very crowded and very hot. I am a faithful fan of the UG and if it weren't for knowing about their touring plans and knowing how to utilize the Fastpasss system, the lines would not have been manageable. There was the occasion that you walked up to something in the late afternoon and there was only a 10 or 15 minute wait, but most of the headliners kept at least 30 minute or more waits. At MK on our last day Space Mountain had a 65 minute wait at 3:30 p.m! I don't mean to sound like a downer, but I just wanted you to be aware that with Free Dining being offered the last few years, it has really increased the attendance levels at WDW. When we left we had every intention of booking the Free Diningbounceback for next September that they were offering, but my husband said he would happily pay the $1300 we saved on this trip and put it towards a slower, cooler time to visit.

That being said, if you can only go during September, you could pick the week of Labor day. Labor Day itself will be more crowded, but there were reports on the Dis that the rest of the week this year was pretty good as far as crowds. It will still be very hot that week though. The last week week may be your best bet. The temps will be cooling and that will make the crowds more manageable. The highlight of our trip was Mickey's Not So Scarcy Halloween party! It was awesome. Whatever week you pick, have a great time.

August 31 - September 6 Many still out of school and HOT HOT HOT
September 7 - 13 Could be a good option, but still HOT
September 14 - 20 We did this year and CROWDED & HOT
September 21 - 27 We did this last year and enjoyed our trip
September 28 - October 4 Best weather temp wise, but not sure about crowds with F&W

MNNSHP started this year the 14th, so any of the last three should be fine.

We went Sept 13-21 this year and I was shocked at the crowds. We used fastpass and UG's suggestions days so we accomplished everything we wanted to. I was so stressed out over the crowds it took me a couple of days to relax and enjoy myself.
When we went in Sept 2004, the crowd level was completely different. I guess free dining has made a significant change.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! :thumbsup2

I was leaning toward 9/28 - 10/4 since free dining technically ends 9/27 and to hit MNSSHP. But, F&W starts 9/26 which might bump up the crowds (and it's not all that appealing to us), and Rosh Hashanah falls that week as well (which some suggest may also bump crowd levels).

Soooo, I'm now leaning 75% for 9/21 - 9/27; 25% for 9/7 - 9/13. What do you think?

Thanks again! :)

The last two weeks of Sept tend to have the most love bugs also. Although they don't bite or sting they were a big nuisance. We found Sept to be very hot and humid also. With free Disney dining it is more crowded than it used to be. Also when Food and Wine starts in Epcot it is very crowded especially in the evenings.

In 2006 we went the last week of September and didn't have any lines. We kept hearing how the week before had even less people so we decided on our next trip (2009) to move it up a week. After reading some of the comments here though it sounds like it was the opposite this year.

We went this year 8/30-9/10. After Labor Day itself it was awesome, almost walk on to all rides or a very short wait but before it was packed! We are going September of 2008 but pushed it back, 9/14 -9/27. We chose this date range as we thought the crowds would be died down and the fall/Halloween decorations should be up! :goodvibes

We went in June/July last year and it was hot and crowded but we thought it was still great. We are going all the way back this year (we are from Australia) from the 14th sept to 29th and it will be a little cooler and a little less crowded.

This year, we went from September 30-October 5th and it was AMAZING! Our longest ride wait was 10 minutes. We are going September 28-October 5th in 2008 too.

Is free dining a factor in your decision? It hasn't been offered yet but one site - www.buildabettermousetrip.com/freedining.html - is suggesting that Aug. 24th - Sept. 22 are possible dates, based on the 2007 Free Dining dates.

Here's a link that gave 2007 Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party dates - the 2008 dates will probably vary a bit but this will give you some idea of what to expect: http://allearsnet.com/tp/mk/mnssh.htm

So, sometime between Sept. 14 - 21 might be a good choice for both free dining & the halloween party.

I picked the last weekend in Sept because crowds shouldn't be an issue and if you wanted to you could attend Food and Wine at EPCOT. Plus it is likely to still be warm then but the other times would be warmer/hot.
