We have a "whirlwind" trip coming up in October - 5 days in WDW followed by 3-Day cruise. DH, DS age 11, DS age 8, and myself have pretty well decided to eat at Epcot and BW based on past experience (except my sons do insist on Chef Mickey's one night). Trying to narrow three Epcot Restaurants down to two - these are all places we've eaten before but at least three (or more) years ago:

Biergarten (DS age 8 is a picky eater - plus DH and I are beer drinkers - we last ate here in 1999)

Chefs de France (we had a great meal here in 2001 - oops that's only 2 years ago - and the menu still sounds awesome)

Alfredos (haven't eaten here since 1990 but DH is half Italian - but would the food be disappointing?)

Looking for recent comments on these restaurants - as always I know everyone is a big help here! Thanks!

My DD - both 7 love to eat at San Angel Inn. The Mexico pavillion is their favorite to visit. They love the boat ride, the mariachi band, and the perpetual nighttime. Kids menu has tacos and chicken nuggets so its ok for picky eaters. We also enjoyed Rose and Crown pub - great fish and chips. And what is better for beer drinkers than the pub! We have eaten inside and out on the deck - liked the outside better. Servers are very friendly. We weren't crazy about Alfredo's. Food was ok. Hope it helps - have a great time!

If those are the 3 you narrowed it down to, I would probably go for Biergarten & Alfredo's.

We were there in March '03 and had dinner at the Biergarten. As you have been there before - you pretty much know what to expect. It's very entertaining and the beer is good. But if you have a picky eater in your group, I'm not so sure about this. I know they have hot dogs, noodles, etc., but I was seated at a table with 2 young boys about 8 & 10 and all they did was complain about the food.

I think the food at Alfredo's is good. I mean it's not the best Italian food in the world, but very tasty and the decor is nice. Believe me, I am an Italian food snob & eat my fair share of it (live near NYC) and Alfredo's is passable.

Have you considered Living Seas? I think this is one of the most fun places to eat in EC. I have never had a bad meal there.

I also agree that San Angel and Rose & Crown are good choices.

Gosh, it's so hard to choose among all those Epcot restuarants. We love them all but we generally try to eat at the restaurants that we are least likely to encounter at home. For example, we eat at Italian restaurants fairly frequently so we usually don't do Alfredo's. I'm guessing you are less likely to encounter a French or German restaurant back home so those are the two I would recommend. If you haven't tried Akershus yet, it's very good and a great meal for the money!

we had a wonderful meal at teppanyaki, and it kept our kids interested. The Kiri beer was wonderful--particularly with a little lemon squeezed in.

we ate at chefs de france a couple of weeks ago.
the food was okay, if pricey, but the service was really rushed and not very friendly.

ALFREDO'S !! We finally ate there in 2000 and I thought it was the best fettucine and crusty bread. YUM! Trying a new place is always fun too!
