I have an to choose where to stay in Jan or Feb (not sure yet)
Thru the military rate codes I can stay at the Poly, lagoon view concierge (1304.00) Grand Floridian, main building concierge (1582.00) or the Yacht club, water view concierge (1304.00)
I have never stayed concierge before, so any info would help.
I know I'll never get these rates again (5 nights, tax included) so I want to choose the best. There are three of us, myself, my husband, and my 14year old son. We have been to Disney many times, and my husband has a 90 day deployment coming up, so we want to have a special time before he goes.
thanks for the help

You know I wish I could speak from experience here, but unfortunately, I can't. However, if I were you :) I would pick the GF, just because I have always wanted to stay there especially concierge and for that price, I would definitely go for it!

Have fun wherever you choose, I am sure it will be GREAT!

We just returned from 4 days at the GF concierge main bldg. I would highly recommend that as a once in a lifetime experience. We spent one night at the Yacht Club before moving over to GF and while it was nice the whole atmosphere of the GF is just wonderful beyond belief. I don't think the actual concierge service and attention is necessarily as good as what some people experience at the Poly and YC but the theming of the resort and the rooms is so magical! We had a perfect view of the castle and in the morning I would sit on the balcony and just listen to the wonderful music that always seemed to be playing in the background. In the evenings we'd sit in the concierge lounge and nibble treats and listen to the musicians playing while we gazed over the lobby. The monorail is right there on the second floor just a few steps away from the door.

For us we just didn't want or need much from the concierge staff so we were much more interested in the room and the hotel.

Hope this helps!

I haven't stayed concierge but have stayed at the Poly. It is our favorite resort and the convenience can't be beat. There have been some great posts about the Poly concierge. I'm sure you will be happy no matter which resort you choose.

We have 6 nights at the Polynesian GV concierge booked for $1526.....so good rates can be had there. I've never seen such discounts for the Grand Floridian concierge...especially the main building. Keep in mind our Dec trip is our first, so this is pure speculation, but I'd take the GF and revel in the luxury!!! :D

I've stayed conicerge at both the Poly and GF and also stayed at the YC but not in concierge, and personally it really depends what you are looking for. I like the Poly best for overall feel and the concierge lounge and staff are tops!!! The YC has the best pool in my opinion, and I've read GREAT reviews of YC concierge, I want to try it someday, tried but it was closed for renovations last July, maybe next time!!! The GF had the best rooms in my opinion, and the lounge has a great view of the lobby, but I found the food selections to be lacking in comparision to the Poly. The GF is the mot elegant of the three and it's definately a once in a lifetime experience, but when I stay at the GF again, I wouldn't pay for the main building concierge, I'd just do Sugar Loaf, I didn't think it was really worth it. As you can see, I like each resort for different reasons, so it's a tough call. I've decided to stay at Poly concierge for our Feb stay, since it's on the monorail, and I was just at the GF and YC in July.

Is the GF concierge in the Sugar Loaf building (Lodge concierge) or is it in the Main Building.

If it's in the Main Building I would go for that as the price is great.

If not I would choose between Polynesian and YC. I haven't stayed at the Polynesian yet but we really enjoyed our stay at the YC concierge in August 2002

I have stayed at all three in concierge, including most recently the main building at the GF. In terms of service, I would rate the YC the best, followed distantly by the GF and Poly. Service in Disney concierge is not that great, and the food offerings are not what they once were, I would guess due to budget cuts. You may want to choose based upon location. If you plan to spend most of your time in the MK area, then the GF or Poly maybe the way to go. (By the way, did you check rates at the WL? They also offer concierge). If you want to be by Epcot, the Boardwalk, etc. go with the YC. I think your teenager might enjoy Stormalong Bay, Epcot, Studios and the offerings in the BW area.

One other thing...I thought that I read on this board that the Poly concierge is going to be refurbished soon. There are many Poly experts on this board who can provide you with the latest information.

Good luck with your choice and have a great trip!

Hi MJS! The Polynesian Concierge is going down for rehab in June, 2003. The entire Hawaii buiding is being re-done. The concierge rooms will be located in Tahiti during the rehab.

:)

Hi Misti! :) Thanks for the info. We joined the DVC, so I am not "up" on all of the resort info. We are looking forward to going home to the BCV soon!

I should really thank Tikiman--that is where I found the info! ;)

Congrats again on BCV!

I would go for the GF main bldg concierge. There's not all *that* much difference in price, in this case, between the Main Bldg and the out building, and you're sure to love the MB! It's beautiful, luxurious, convenient ... I could go on and on!

Hi

I agree with MJS, with a 17 yr old, the YC would be a great choice. There is so much to do over there. We've stayed at the Poly and the YC concierge (twice) and enjoyed the YC far more. The poly was nice, but, too many little ones there - it is on the monorail and next to the MK - the favorite among the little ones! The YC you can walk over to Boardwalk with so much to do, walk into Epcot which is Great and then just a boat ride to MGM! And the YC in my opinion was geared for the older kids. We are going for Christmas again this year and asked our 17 yr old son where he wanted to stay - and it was the YC - hands down!

The staff at the concierge was great each time we were there and the food was Great!

Enjoy!!

All three offer so much! The GF Main Bldg. concierge is fantastic with exceptional food offerings, particularly in the evenings. And what a fabulous resort. It would be my first choice.

The Poly is so romantic and, if you are in the Hawaii concierge building before it goes down for the rehab, the lagoon view rooms offer a gorgeous view of Cinderella's Castle with the beach just outside your door. Request either a first-floor room (non-smoking) or a 3rd-floor room (smoking, but with the best views; ask to have the room de-smoked). Second floor rooms do not have balconies. And the bi-level concierge lounge is one of Disney's best.

The YC also offers great food offerings and a great location near Epcot and the Studios. The view from the concierge lounge is one of the parking lot and front of the hotel; a bit of a disappoinment.

I don't know about your 17-year old, but my 19-year old (a girl) loves being near the Magic Kingdom and really likes being able to hop on the monorail and be in the park within a matter of minutes.

The GF is Disney's flagship resort, it is on the monorail, and you will be the envy of all your friends...guess you know what my recommendation would be.

I have, however, stayed in a regular room at both Yatch Club and Polynesian and much prefered the Yatch Club of the two...and that was before the YC renovation.

I've stayed at all three.

I would NEVER stay at the GF concierge level again. THey practically sneered at us. They were rude, unhelpful, nasty, arrogant, I was not only unimpressed, I was upset.

The YC was OK. Not perfect, but OK. We stayed there just a couple months ago, after the refurbishment. I wasn't 100% thrilled with it. The concierge CM's were so hot and cold--some were great, others, so-so at best. And I had a HUGE cockroach under a shirt on top of my suitcase, and the power went out, and on and on. Just didnt' leave a great taste in my mouth.

We LOVED the Poly concierge. THe CM's were WONDERFUl, food was good and plentiful. Loved having the bottled water and soda out that you could take to teh parks, etc. We'll most definitely go back there again.

You might also want to look into the BWI concierge and AKL concierge. AKL concierge is by far the best I've experienced at WDW.
