Help me choose a wedding band....

Yet another Blue Nile vote.

It's higher quality, it matches your engagement ring, and I personally like it better.

The color difference, even if slight, would bother me. lol So I vote for the 18K one! What a fun decision to make, huh?! :)

After looking at the rings, I'd go for neither of them. I had a ring like the first one from Kay (though not purchased there), and since the diamonds overhang the metal, it will RUIN your setting in a matter of years (the second one is the same, just a prong setting). These rings aren't meant to be worn with an engagement ring. It eventually sawed (my setting is platnium) a grove into the prongs of my solitaire and made it unstable. I had to pay to have it reset, and at that time was informed that these type of wedding bands aren't meant to be worn with engagement rings. Diamonds are the hardest material know to man, and eventually it will cause damage to any metal. If you really want a diamond band, go with a true channel set (on the Kay site, the top left one). It won't cause you any damage, I know!!! It cost me almost $2k to have my engagement ring reset and redone!!! It has also caused for me to crack TWO diamonds in my wedding band. I replaced the first one, but the second time I just gave up. I bought a true channel set anniversary band.

Another vote for the Blue Nile one :D :wave2:

I think the Blue Nile band would be a better choice for you.

but for me, next set will be channel set. I do too much, never took them off, and damaged the settings in my wedding set.

I don't really care for the first one from Kay's and the second one from Blue Nile looks exactly like the ring DH got me for my 10th wedding anniversary (so I am partial to choice #2). I wear it alone on my other hand, so depending on what your engagement ring is would be the deciding factor for me as to if I were to get it.

Thanks for the reply's. Gives me something to thik about.. :)

Minnie65~ That's a great idea, but I am afraid of getting ripped off or not bartering the price down enough. I am not a very forceful person. Any hints or clues... we thought about that too. I wear my grandmother's wedding band on my thumb right now and was thinking about using it as my wedding band until I find the right one.

Which island would be better? The wedding is actually on St. Thomas and we will have time to shop earlier in the day as well. We do stop at St. Marteen too, but the second week of the cruise we stop at St. Thomas agian so we could shop more then! What would be the better choice!!!

Thanks everyone... it is a fun decision!

I recently had to replace my rings (after 20 years of marriage) because I became allergic to the nickel in my 14K gold rings. I ended up getting platinum, but jewelers told me that I'd have better luck with 18K than the 14K I had. I had this ugly, itchy rash where my rings were.

Well if you make two stops in St. Thomas, you could look at what's available and be honest when you say you will come back depending on what kind of deal they can work for you. Look in St. Marteen and compare, then go back to St. Thomas and see what happens. You don't have to be forceful, just show your interested and able to buy then and when they don't offer you a bargain walk out and see what happens....

I also second the notion of waiting until you get down to St. Thomas or St. Maarten. If you don't find what you like down ther you can always come back and get the Blue Nile one (that would be my vote).

The quality and price of diamonds in the Caribbean are second to none. We went on a cruise for our honeymoon and stoppend in Grand Cayman. I wished we would have waited to get our rings there. The jewelry was beautiful. It's not hard to barter and besides the jewelry is so well priced anyway its a good deal. There is a 10 carat diamond necklace that I fell in love with down there and I vow to get back there and get it someday.

Congratulations and I am jealous at having to make such a "hard" decision.
