We're headed to the World in September. Friday the 29th I've planned as a MK day.
I just found a flaw in my original dining plan for the day. The way I had it was Chef Mickey's for breakfast, Alfredo's for lunch and Hoop Dee Do for dinner. But now I realize that the 29th is the first day of the F&WF so we're avoiding EPCOT that day. Since our only reason for being there is Alfredo's it doesn't make sense. Not to mention the time it will take to get from MK to EPCOT, through Future World to Italy. As you can see I've already got my mind set against it. So that leaves the question of where to dine for lunch that's convenient to get to from MK? We'll be on the premium plan so we can dine just about anywhere. Nothing inside MK interests us except CRT, which we're doing earlier in the week. Any suggestions of a nice sit down restaurant near MK that serves lunch? Keep in mind we want to avoid EPCOT. We're staying at YC so the Boardwalk restaurants aren't out of the question, but several don't serve lunch. Here are the places already on our list for the week: LeCellier, CRT, Concourse, Fulton's Marrakech, Portobello, Brown Derby, YSH, RFC, AP, CM, HDDR, California Grille, Cape May. TIA :wave2:

How about Kona at the Poly, or the GF Cafe at the Grand Floridian or even better how about a late lunch and do the Tea at the GF

Kona cafe for lunch- monorail to Polynesian maybe.
Delicious food.Generous portions(except crabcake appetizer). Great desserts.

Kona Cafe was also my first thought :). You'll be able to pick up a nice light lunch there since you will be totally stuffed otherwise! Another nice lunch option is the Trail's End Buffet. You can visit the petting zoo while you are there. Or ... you can just stop at one of the counter service restaurants for a quick and easy lunch.

hey determined one,
While if your looking for sit down i saw you didnt have Crystal Palaca (my favorite Buffet) or Kona would be my two suggestions for sit down in the MK area. If you just want to lounge around the Park for a bit and grab some lunch Casey's is always a cool place to grab some hot Dog's and Cosmic Rays is a decent counter sevice meal.

Maybe a little off topic, but Chef Mickey is a buffet, right? You mean you can have breakfast at a buffet, than have a lunch at a table service restaurant and then have a full dinner at another restaurant?????? I would explode... every time I go to a buffet for breakfast, I need nothing else until dinner (OK, except for an ice cream or Dole whip in the afternoon :D )

Yep! But just because we eat three meals a day doesn't mean we have to stuff ourselves. In our everyday lives we typically eat three to five meals a day. Not at buffets mind you, but even still. We know the right foods to eat and are mindful of overeating. If you're stuffed for the day after a breakfast buffet you likely ate too much or too much of the wrong foods.

Try Kona or The Grand Floridian Cafe. If you don't want to leave the park try The Plaza. With a buffet for breakfast and an all you care to eat for dinner consisting of richer fried foods, you may prefer to go a little lighter with The Plaza or Grand Floridian Cafe. I'm sure when referring to your meals, some were just surprised to see three table service in one day. I doubt they were judging your eating habits. If you prefer a CS Pinocchio's Village Haus has a very nice Italian menu--grilled pannini, salads and great cannoli. It may make planning a bit more flexible not to have to be somewhere at a specific time. It will be easier for you to get to the Hoop dee doo from MK than from Epcot as well--just hop the campground resort boat in front of the MK. Enjoy!

I was not judging you. I just made up a "fake" dinner plan for myself if I would ever go to WDW (not that soon in the future, but oh well), and I found it difficult to fill up the days, because well... it just seems too much (and too expensive) for me.

But I admit, if you eat 4 Mickey waffles + all the rest at a breakfast buffet, it's your own fault you feel sick for the rest of the day (especially when the first thing you do is going on Space Mountain after that) (yes, I am THAT stupid) (at least now I have a Mickey waffle-maker at home, so I can eat them on other days than on my rare DL visits) (they don't have those at DLP, go figure!) :D

The only restaurant that I went to in the vicinity of MK was Whispering Canyon and it was a lot of fun. I think it would be a great way to break up the day and then also get to look at how incredible the Wilderness Lodge is! When we walked in, my daughter looks up and just says, "wow". Plus, its almost like a dinner show and lots of fun! Good luck in whatever you decide!

The Plaza Restaurant just off Main St is great for lunch. They have sandwiches, soup, and salads. The service is always great and the food is good.

I'd say Kona, maybe CP, but two two character-buffets in a row may be to much. Kona has great appetizers and desserts.

:teeth:

And thanks everyone for the suggestions. You've given me some good ideas. Keep them coming!

We had a lovely lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern last summer. They do hot meals or sandwiches and they have nice desserts too, oh and nice salads! Great location too right in the middle of Magic Kingdom. :) You could book it for an hour or so before the parade and step right out and watch it! :)
