I really really want to stay at the poly. I have dreamed of staying there since I was a kid. I went to disney 3 times as a kid. I used to work there. ALL the time I wanted to stay there.

Nite for the first time I an taking my family, wife and two little girls . I so wasn't to stay st the poly but I cannot afford it. We are going april 29-may 9 2011. If I could get poly for 300 or less I could afford it. (barely)..and this needs to be before discounts ..any discounts will just be icing on the cake.

I an guesting there is no way anyone can help.but I figured I would try hY

I feel your pain :) We stayed at the Poly (my first time ever) last year and we could never have done it without the Buy 4 Get 3 Free Deal that came out at the end of '08. So, hold on to hope. Good deals do come out! But beware- once you go, you'll want to go back! :rotfl: Good luck!

It's not impossible to get below $300, but not without a discount. The cheapest Poly room, which is a garden view in value season, is $365/night (and that is for 2010 - I haven't seen the 2011 rates yet, but they're out there).

(I wasn't considering outside companies like Expedia as the poster below posted - just because I wouldn't do a room booking thru an outside aggregator type place for Disney, but I do for other locations).

Expedia are currently doing Garden View rooms for $219 a night. Keep them in mind. I'm doing everything "a la carte" at a much cheaper deal than either Disney or travel agents were coming back with.

If you can go in value season that would be best. I stayed @ the Poly for a week in 08. I got a 40% code and paid $204 a night. I could not afford full price there either. Good luck!!!!

Here's a plan.

1) Skip one meal out of the house per week. That should save you about $100 per month.

2) No more Mr. Latte. Take a cheap thermos of coffee instead, and pocket the savings -- about $10 per week -- $40 per month.

3) Stop smoking. Conservatively, that saves $3.00 per pack, $21 per week, $84 per month.

4) Take a sandwich to work for lunch. Saves about $4 per day, $20 per week, $80 per month.

How much have we saved so far? About $3648 over a year. That should help take the sting out of the Poly.

And if you are in a state like NJ, then you will save $8.50 per pack!! Crazy. $255 per month, $3,060 per year! I quit 4 years ago, I can't believe how long I didn't really connect the dots on how fast my savings could grow.

OP, I would definitely keep an eye out for a code. There are some threads around here about how if you plan a trip online at disney, register and save the trip (not pay for, just save for reference). Do it with a few different resorts, few different types of trips. Many people received special email pins after that. It is not guaranteed, but can't hurt :)

If you book via expedia you don't get to use discounts or pins right.

I will try the save the trip on disney and see what happens.when discounts come out are they typically specially for one resort or do they appky for anything

Seems I could keep the current reservation I have then make the online one for the poly save it and wait and see what pins or discounts come out then decide one month before hand what to do... But what if I get a good pin for the poly and the poly is sold out.

We went this past May and stayed in a GV room. We were only able to afford the Poly b/c of the 40% off discount that was out for that time period. Here's hoping they offer a similar discount next year during that time and you'll be set. With the discount, our room was around $255/nt. Good luck.

If you made this direct with Disney, and you get a pin or see a discount later, you can call to see if they can apply it to this existing reservation. It all depends on if the pin/discount you find has any more space available for your time period and resort.

The discounts are different. Sometimes for certain resorts. Sometimes certain % for different resorts (like 20% off Values, 30% off Moderate, 40% off Deluxe). Sometimes free dining, sometimes buy 4, get 3 free. Can't really say what will be offered.

If you made with a travel agent you can try to get them to apply. If you made with something like Expedia don't think you can do anything then, they have their own discounts.

Here are some boards about various discounts and codes

Yep. I believe those are only available when booked directly through Disney (or with a travel agent you can use it when booking for you?). Just get whatever discount they -- the online travel site -- happens to be offering.

In my instance, there were no GV rooms available according to the two people I spoke to at Disney Resort reservations or travel agents for the dates we wanted -- just the more expensive rooms. Expedia and Travelocity both had available GV rooms, due to them "buying in bulk" at $219. If you do ever decide to reserve through an online travel site, make sure to read the fine print. (That said, I can cancel my hotel-only reservation and receive a full refund up until a week prior to arrival. Not too bad for my needs.)

Good luck :)

I remember reading last year that Magical Vacations had some really great rates for the POLY and GF.

Go ahead and request a quote from them, it cannot hurt and good luck.

You may be able to get the Poly at under $300 per night but not this far out. You will have to wait and see what discounts are going to be offered for next April/May which probably won't be known until around January.

Also you may want to consider buying an annual pass for one of the adults and then booking the room using the annual pass discount. Sometimes the deluxe room savings justifies the cost of an annual pass -- especially when you are staying as long as you are 10+ days. However the annual pass room discounts aren't released until much closer to the actual travel dates.

This is the same price you'd get with the 40% off PIN from Disney.

This doesn't give much help getting a cheap room now... but what about finding a moderate resort for now... and then if a great deal does come up in January that brings the Poly rooms under $300/night rebook and move to Poly

If you are going to book a mod room book the coronado springs. Their rooms have queen sized beds......the other mods only have doubles. Queen sized beds are in the deluxe resorts. By staying here you get disney themes, a fun pool, great food courts and the larger bed w/o the deluxe price tag :thumbsup2

1) Most people dont eat out once a week
2) Yes, most adults drink coffee (not me) but buying coffee beans to make at home would run you about $8 per week..not much of a savings. And if you dont drink coffee, like myself, there is no savings
3) Smoking? Most people do not smoke. BTW..where do you live that cigerettes only cost $3 per pack? A couple coworkers of mine may want to move there! In MA its like $8 or $9 per pack. But I would not save anhy money here either.
4) OK, taking your lunch to work may save. About 50% of my company buys. If you normally buy lunch, that could save you money, but if you dont..again no savings. (confession....I buy!)

So..Ill give you
1/2 the lunches at $5 per day = $650
$2 per week on the coffee = $104
nothing on the smoking
$30 on outside food per week = $1560
Total savings (maybe) = $2314

I have a better chance at a WDW vacation, staying at the Poly if I went to your house, slipped on your walkway, called James Sokolove and sued you for $10K

If you (OP) want to make the Poly affordable, do as others have suggested. Use Southwest Vacations or Expedia or something similar. Discount room codes off deluxes are generally larger than other resorts. If you are patient, the right deal will come along. Try to be flexible with your dates.

Good Luck!

Do what I do....wish to win the lottery (in FL) or win big at the casinos (in MS). I live in AL, haven't bought lottery tickets in about a year, go to the casinos maybe twice a year. (the last time I won $250) Don't think that would work. So I guess, I'll just stay at a moderate or value, as long as I'm at WDW, I am happy! Good luck, I hope you get to stay at the Poly, I would love to stay there too!.........maybe one day.
