Help! May lose 46 banked points!

I was not sure if I should post this here or the rent/trade board. I need some help and information. I have ** '07 points that were banked into '08. We have a ** UY, so if we do not use them this summer, they are lost. We are not going on a trip this summer, so Disney is not an option. There are a few RCI choices close enough, but with the $95 booking fee, it does not seem worth it for a couple nights. I could book those places at about that rate in the summer anyway!

Since they are banked points, is there anyway to donate them to a charity?

I do not have the time to go through the hassle of trying to rent them and make ressies. I would deal with it if I could transfer them to another member, but I do not think they can be transferred since they were banked...is that correct?

Anyone have any ideas for me?

You could reserve a couple of nights at a RCI resort for $95????

Your only options are to try to use them for a World Passport trade, rent a reservation using those points or to make a reservation and donate that to a charity (there would be no charitable deduction for that though) or to bank the points into the World Passport Collection (which would extend their use for an additional 2 years). There is no way to donate the points themselves. Since they have already been banked, they cannot be transferred to another member either.

We are in a similar situation with a little over 100 banked from 07. We offered them to a few friends I knew I could trust but just didn't work out. With that said I will NEVER rent points to someone I don't know and trust. When they trash the room or run up expenses on a bad credit card we are left with the bill. I know many people rent their points without issue but I'd rather lose the points before renting.

No, those are you only options for any DVC program - but the World Passport Collection does extend their use beyond the normal expiration.

I am not clear at all on the whole RCI thing, (a CM told me today that there was a $95 fee for an RCI ressie, so that is what I thought the charge was) We have been members since '01, but have never done anything other than stay at DVC hotels.

As an update, we found a good use for our points. My Aunt and Uncle live in CA and are going to stay for 2 nights at the Grand Californian on us. We are excited to be doing this for them, and needless to say they are VERY excited! At least they will go to good use!
