HELP---looking for new computer for dd

I've had a number of ASUS netbooks the past couple of years and never had a problem. They just keep getting better and faster. The current one I have is an ASUS eee PC 1001P and got it for less than $300. It has a battery that lasts up to 10 hours, which really comes in handy on weekend trips...not having to take the charger with me. It was easy enough to up the memory from one gig to two. Talk to her and see what she says, but I am also a college student and I can't imagine trying to write a paper on a netbook screen. I prefer a laptop. My DH uses a netbook and he uses it as his work computer..ports that thing back and forth all day..whatever..and it's fine for him. But me, as a student who takes online classes and IRL classes..papers and stuff..I want a real laptop.

Thanks for the replies. Im going to let my dh look at this thread and see what he thinks. I wouldnt want to type on something that small, but dd doesnt seem to mind.

I have a netbook that I use for conferences. Its very nice for that - which is the work equivlent of taking notes in class. It multitasks. Keyboard is tiny, but you get used to it. Its very light, battery life is great, travels easily. It isn't a robust PC - if she's going to need access to statistical software or CAD programs or something for her major, it won't do. But it will load up Office and handle most of my work functions. (When I travel, I also bring a full size notebook with me for the 360000 line Excel spreadsheets - the Netbook doesn't handle those).

It doesn't play World of Warcraft. I use my desktop PC for that.
