Help! Lettermen Jacket

Our school paid for jackets while my boys were in school. If you wanted the leather sleeves you paid 60 or so for that. The first varsity letter was on the jacket. You had to pay for the last name and that was under 20, longer names cost more. Patches were free but you paid to get sewn on.
Now the school charges for jacket and I think it's about 200 or so. They are easy to earn, small school with minimal varsity points needed. My oldest got his at end of freshman year, fall, winter and spring sport varsity means lots of Kids get jackets. Youngest got junior year as he only did 2 sports per year.
Kids here wear all the time.

Funny coincidence I see this here. We were just at my son's first high school athletic awards and he got a letter for golf and has no idea what it's for. I was so proud of my letter jacket back in the 80s because it was so expensive and I had to work hard to afford it. I haven't seen anyone wearing them here. I'll have to see what the other sports people do with them.
