Hello to all,
After hearing all the wonderful things about the Poly, I changed my Grand Floridian (have always stayed there) reservations so that we would stay the first six days at the Poly with a Lagoon View and then go for the last two weeks to the Grand F.
I just read about the mold problem at the Tahiti. That was the longhouse that I requested. I am terrified of the mold as my 3 year old daughter has asmtha and my 73 year old father just had his aorta replaced and is allergic to mold. If he starts coughing hard he would be in unbearable pain instantly.
I called the Poly directly and they would not even listen to me and referred me to CRO. CRO said that they would note my request for a room without mold but would not guarantee. There is no more availabilty for any other deluxe on the monorail.
Does anyone have any ideas how to proceed? We just lost our Mom and I am taking my Dad and daughter there to try and recover from her passing as well as help him recover from his very serious surgery and now I am terrified that this holiday is going to be a big problem. I should add that I changed to the Poly just a few weeks ago and am having to pay FULL RACK RATE for the room.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Please try to relax... I know for a fact that when Disney knows you have health issues, they go out of their way to accomodate you any way they can. Also, there have been some posts about mold in the Tahiti building, but there also have been many people saying they've stayed in Tahiti recently and have not had any mold at all. It seems to be limited to just a few rooms, so chances are that your room will be fine. If you do get to the room and you smell or see mold, call the front desk immediately and tell them of your health issues, and tell them you NEED a different room.
