Hello to all,

After hearing all the wonderful things about the Poly, I changed my Grand Floridian (have always stayed there) reservations so that we would stay the first six days at the Poly with a Lagoon View and then go for the last two weeks to the Grand F.

I just read about the mold problem at the Tahiti. That was the longhouse that I requested. I am terrified of the mold as my 3 year old daughter has asmtha and my 73 year old father just had his aorta replaced and is allergic to mold. If he starts coughing hard he would be in unbearable pain instantly.

I called the Poly directly and they would not even listen to me and referred me to CRO. CRO said that they would note my request for a room without mold but would not guarantee. There is no more availabilty for any other deluxe on the monorail.

Does anyone have any ideas how to proceed? We just lost our Mom and I am taking my Dad and daughter there to try and recover from her passing as well as help him recover from his very serious surgery and now I am terrified that this holiday is going to be a big problem. I should add that I changed to the Poly just a few weeks ago and am having to pay FULL RACK RATE for the room.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Take a deep breath and relax the Poly wouldn't be as popular as it is if there was mold everywhere.
As you have also read on these boards the Poly is remodeling all of its buildings, don't worry until you actually have something to worry about.
The CM's will take care of any problems if there are any...
Have a Great Trip and be sure to post and let us know what a MACICAL TIME you and your family had.

I would call CRO and ask to speak to a Supervisor. Explain your situation. If there is a health problem, I am almost certain that they will help you. They have helped me a couple of times with health issues of my premature daughter. PLEASE POST HOW IT GOES. HAVE A GOOD TIME AT DISNEY!

I'm so sorry for the stress you are feeling right now. :( Please try to relax... I know for a fact that when Disney knows you have health issues, they go out of their way to accomodate you any way they can. Also, there have been some posts about mold in the Tahiti building, but there also have been many people saying they've stayed in Tahiti recently and have not had any mold at all. It seems to be limited to just a few rooms, so chances are that your room will be fine. If you do get to the room and you smell or see mold, call the front desk immediately and tell them of your health issues, and tell them you NEED a different room.

I hope you all have a wonderful trip!!

P.S. I'm sorry about the loss of your mom. My mother just passed away a few months ago. I'd love to get my father to Disney World! I hope your dad has a great time :)

Thank you all so very much for your replies. I am going to call CRO and ask for a supervisor and see if that helps.

I will let you know what transpired when we return on March 5th.

Thank you again.

P.S. My heartfelt condolences on your Mom, Seapray. I really do know how you feel.

If you read these boards at all you will soon realize that EVERY resort has bad reports. People tend to post bad reports way more often than good reports. The problem is that it takes just one time for people to think that the problem is real bad. We've been to WDW since the 1970's and I should know better, but even I have to admit that I do the same thing. We stayed at Dixie Landings years ago and had a really bad experience there. Now I know that TONS of people love that resort and in my head I know that we just had a bad experience, but nontheless we have never stayed there again. On the other hand we've stayed at the Poly numerous times and have never had a bad experience. In fact we stayed in Tahiti just this past August and didn't have a problem. We're going in March and staying at the Poly again and are not worried at all. Yes the people who posted had a bad room, it can happen, and maybe we'll get a bad room in March, but I think it is just the luck of the draw. On the whole I think Disney does a wonderful job, but they are not perfect, even though we all think they should be. If you are unhappy just call or go back to the desk. I have found that if you are nice the CMS usually really try to make it better. Don't worry, don't be scared, just go and have a wonderful trip!!!

Oh I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Why don't you let them know your situation, they may go out of their way to help you. I have not posted this yet, but my husband was just told he has cancer and our trip in March is turning out to be a family "happy" trip before he has surgery and treatment. I have been contemplating myself of writing a letter asking for a quiet room, etc. I think you should too, it can't hurt.

Best of Luck, take care and Have a Wonderful Vacation!!!

They can't guarantee a room without mold.

You have a real concern here. I would make your concerns known to the CM's when you are checking in. If things don't go your way then ask for a different room or switch resorts.

I'm sure they will do their best to place you in a mold free room. Don't worry. I'm sure you will have options if things don't first go as planned.

Enjoy your trip. Looking forward to your trip report.

And yes there was a extreme MOLD proplem in my room! After getting sick the first DAY I packed up and wentto the AKL, much better! When I reported the problem they acked liked they knew there was a problem, so why don't the have the rooms cleared of the MOLD! it was around the vents, along the ceiling and floors , you could smell it as soon as you entered the room!!

We also just got back from the Poly three days ago. We stayed in a third floor gardenview room in Tahiti. No mold whatsoever and my son has severe allergies including asthma. He was fine the entire time. Have a great trip!
