Leaving for OKW this weekend. Want to call ahead and make a few requests. From what I've read here, I want non-smoking and second floor for sure. As for location, going with the in-laws (2 studios). I want to be somewhat close to HH, but at the same time convenient to the DD walking trail.

I know it's late, but figured calling with requests can't hurt. Any suggestions on buildings?

Just back from OKW a few weeks ago.....it is a great place!!!! 2nd floor is nice as long as everyone can walk the steps....All the buildings are good, but we kind of like the Peninsular Area.....It is close to the HH, but not too close. The only villas that I don't like are the ones that are across the street from the HH.....too busy there. You can certainly call ahead and make your requests. HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!

Hi Bill,
You'll have to choose one location or the other. "Close to HH" and "close to walking trail to DD" are pretty much opposite ends of the resort. OKW does have a boat that goes to DD, so maybe you can request "close to HH" and just use the boat transportation to the Marketplace. Have a great trip :cool1:

Requests are best made at the time the reservation is made. Rooms are assigned by a room assigner about 2 weeks out from the date of the stay. This is what we were told in March. We usually only make one request...non-smoking for medical reasons. Beyond that, we take our chances, and have yet to find a "bad" location at OKW.

As stated,"near HH" and "near the walkway to DTD" is an impossible request, since HH is at the front of the resort and the walkway is at the other end. There are also DTD buses, but I prefer to take the water taxi or walk. We usually have a car, so often we drive to DTD.

Here is a map of OKW.

Thanks for the info. Called today and requested NS, second floor, buildings 23-26. Thanks again.

Hi guys,

Thanks for posting the map. I can't pull up the maps from the Disney Website for some reason... Why not the 1st floor? I'm just wondering because I must have missed that thread. I'll be staying there for the very 1st time next month. I have already requested non-smoking, 1st floor near HH. I'll have a car, but will be using bus to MK. TIA :cloud9:

Depends on what size unit you want. If you are in a studio, the first floor units will be hemmed in by vegetation. If you are under a GV, you can have a fair amount of noise from the hardwood floors above. We don't mind the 1st floor units, but then, we never stay in studios either.

Not sure why you would want to drive to the parks. By the time you park and take the tram or walk to the entrance, you will definitely not be saving time. The only park I see a real reason to possibly drive to might be AK, since it is quite a ways away, and the bus stops at Blizzard Beach before it gets there.

We have a car for our whole stay. We're staying at several resorts during our trip. I can get to our ADRs at hotels much faster with a car. It's more flexible for us. We go to the parks early in the day when it's cooler. Parking the car & tram ride is never a problem, except for at the MK. There are some days when we just use the bus transportation. We'll see how crowded they are. We like using both.

Yeah, when we picked up our son's friend from the OKW last Spring Break, the vegetation was leafy. Hopefully, it's not too dark inside. They had a 2nd floor room and loved it. We only do studios when my husband isn't with us.
