I just read a post that Le Cellier won't let older kids order from the kids menu. Can anyone confirm this? I need to know asap we leave in two days. If that is the case, then I will cancel.

Thanks!

My dd is 12 and she has always ordered from the kids menu at LeCellier. When we used DDP we just paid out of pocket for her meal.

I never had a restaurant in Disney tell us she couldn't order from the kdis menu.

We were last there in July 2009.

I had the same problem occur when I discoved that my 11 yr old wasn't going to eat anything off the menu at O'Hana. 1st time I called they said- sorry can't do anything about that. 2nd time I called, I got a different rep who was a little easier to work with, so I asked him what the alternative meals were for folks who have allergies, are vegetarians, or observe Kosher. She added a note to our reservation that my daughter could order a Kosher-type meal, such a hot dog or chicken strips. We will still have to pay the full price, but at least I am not worried about it. It seems that Disney goes to a lot of trouble to take care of special dining requirements. I knew if I was persistant, then surely someone would work with me on this, and they did. Please post back what happens in your situation- we have reservations for Le Cellier also, and I know my daughter is going to want something off the kids menu, and I assumed I would have to make a special request again.

My son was 11 at the time of our trip in 2006. He's very picky and likes mostly kid-type foods. He didn't have a problem ordering off the kid's menu at any restaurant, including Le Cellier. We were on the DDP and they just charged us one TS credit for whatever he ordered.

Totally nonsense.
We had 10 lunch and 10 dinner reservations in all sorts of restaurants and they never ever refused to serve my niece from the children's menu. She is ten.
Especial in Le Cellier they were very accommodating to serve her.

She always got what she wanted without questions asked or servers refusing to let her choose from the children's menu.
They even let us adults choose from the children's menu:lmao: We loved some of the children's desserts. :thumbsup2
They only warned us that the children's menu was also on or two points from the dining plan, depending what restaurant we dined, but that was no problem for us.

I wonder if it matters if a person is using a DDP TS credit vs. paying out of pocket? Obviously, Disney would love to have 10 and older kids who are charged adult fees order a kids meal. But on the other hand, they would prefer not to sell kids meals to 11 yr olds not on the DDP.

Anybody been able to order off the kids menu who is NOT on the DDP?

My DS was 12 when we went to CRT. He was allowed to order off of the children's menu and they made an adult-sized portion for him. I'm sure that Le Cellier will do that for your DD.

ENJOY!

I went to WDW when I was 17 and 18 and never had any problem ordering off of the kids meal. Probably the only 18yrold who orderd the hot dog and fries at the Brown Derby :lmao:

Even if you are on the DDP, I wonder why they would care. They are getting adult credit $$$ for a child menu item.

I think disney does a good job with customer service & wanting to make the guest happy so if your 11 year old wants to order a hotdog or nuggets, I'm sure that's what she/he can have if they have them.

BTW, if your child likes hamburgers, there is a hamburger on the adult menu that you could ask them to serve plain or with cheese only, hold the "onion-ketsup"

If you eat at a buffet you will be charged the adult price for any children over 10 ,but any reg. ts restaurant you will have no problem ordering a kids meal for a for an older child. Go and enjoy, :lovestruc LeCellier.

I feel better now. Hopefully, it won't be a problem when we get there.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. I am so excited I can barely sleep. I will be printing my boarding passes in a couple of hours. See you when I get back.:cool1:

Have a Magical vacation and let us know if your DD got the menu she liked. :wizard:

Last year I ordered the dessert off of the kids meal (i'm the old guy in the picture to the left) at R & C no problem, I only wanted an ice cream.

They will also modify an adults meal too. My grandson at 14 and didn't like the adult choices. We were using the ddp on that trip. So he got the filet, plain, no sauces, no rice, just the filet and got french fries with it. I figured since he was ordering an adult meal, he had to make it worth it. So if you're using a credit for your "disney" adult, remember to look at the menu and ask about modifying the dish by removing all of the sauces and sides. He was a happy camper as he got his plain steak and fries. And of course he got an adult's desert -- as always, the chocolate mousse. (I remember when it was on the kid's menu, now it's an adult desert -- and have you noticed that the mousse was on a diet as he gets smaller each year?)

I don't know about Le Cellier, but Tutto Italia would not let our kids, 11 and 13, order off the children's menu. We were not on the DDP. $19 for plain spaghetti! Never again! That said, that's the only place ever in our many trips they have not been able to order off the kids' menu.

I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous. I can't imagine why they would do that. We're eating at Le Cellier next week and my DD 12 is planning to get the kids steak. It didn't even dawn on me that it would ever be a problem.

Seriously?

I've never heard of a Disney restaurant fussing about this. I think I once paid around $30 at 'Ohana for them to feed my kid a grilled cheese sandwich and french fries, but nobody blinked an eye at the request. Why in the world would they? :confused3

We had this issue with my 11 yr old godson about 2 years ago during free dining. He is incredibly picky and an incredibly light eater. Coral Reef, Spoodles and the Wave gave us trouble letting him order off the children's menu. Eventually our waiter at the Wave modified an adult entree to make it plain enough for him.

It was something I never expected would be a problem since it would seem less costly for Disney to let someone listed as an adult eat off the much cheaper kids' menu. We were really surprised.
