Help! I've been away from the boards and I think I missed something.

I just read Brittsmom's post about a lottery. I searched for an explanation, but no luck. I have been away from the boards this entire month, because my beloved dad passed away just as I was starting summer session. I missed the first two classes, and I have been playing catch up the entire month, with not one minute to spare for the DIS. I handed in my final two papers yesterday, so I immediately came back to the boards today, and apparently I've missed some important news...something about a bwv lottery. Could someone please let me know the particulars? Thanks.

Quick overview...they are releasing points, for DVC members only, to OKW and BWV, tomorrow the 1st of Aug at 8am. My Vacation Club Guide explained to me last night that in order to get our names in for this lottery, we had to put in a purchase proposal (ie. do all the paperwork) on the number of points we thought we wanted, and he told me that it could be anything from 25 - 300 points, depending on what fit for us. If our names got pulled for the lottery, the paperwork would go through and a deposit would be required in 15 days, if not, nothing happened.

AuntSue, I'm terribly sorry to hear about your father. My sympathy to you and your family.

News of this lottery just hit the boards in the last day or two. I've got a problem with this. How can they tell members that OKW and BWV are sold-out and not available for add-ons and then release points to a private list of people? I'm not in the market for points right now so I'm not going to pursue it with DVC but it just doesn't seem right. At the very least, they should have posted this information on the Member site.

I have to agree with you Pam. I even questioned the validity of the rumor when it first came on. It just doesn't sound like DVC.

I agree with Pam also. I have just completed a small add on at VWL because there was NOTHING available at BWV. I just got my recorded deed letter yesterday!

Now, there are points available at the BWV! I could have waited but was given NO indication that anything would be available.

I agree Pam! As I said in the post, the first person I spoke to at DVC had not a clue as to what I was referring to. I told him it was "rumored" on the AOL board and the DIS board. I also told him the lottery was to be held on Wednesday. He still considered it just a "rumor. I then made him transfer me to someone else. I'm amazed that this was not offered at least on the DVC website, or atleast sent thru email / snail mail.

Although I'm not in the market for more points, I agree with Pam. This should not happen without notification by MS of ALL members. Are you sure this lottery is on the level?

I called MS today to get my name on the "lottery list". When I told Betty Pleasant why I was calling she just laughed. She said that yes, there is a "lottery" for some add on points, but the whole thing is now getting a little ridiculous considering they only have 325 points to sell. They have been receiving so many calls from members adding their names that I think we'll have better odds getting a regular Illinois lotto ticket!! Oh well, nothing ventured...

Also, my deepest sympathies on the passing of your father.

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad auntsue. I know what you mean about missing what's going on. I have only missed 2 or 3 days and this is the first I've heard about the lottery. I would like to get another 50 pts. at the BW but I guess I'm going to miss the boat on this one. Oh well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be on this go round. Better luck next time.

A little late, but here is the info I was presented with on Saturday, by my guide. Months ago I called her when someone reported they were able to purchase an add on due to some purchases falling through after the sell out of BWV. At that time, she took my name for the list but said no more were available. So she called me Saturday to say that there were a very limited number of points available, again from contracts fallling through from last year (must have taken them some time to do all the accounting to figure out they had more points available then they thought). She told me guides were calling clients whom they knew wanted add ons, and advising them of the possibility of a limited number of points being available, on a first come basis on Wednesday. I was not told it was a lottery, but perhaps with all the inquiries, they decided it was the only way to go. So I will report Wednesday on the results. Good luck to everyone!
P.S. I couldn't help asking about BCV, VEP and DVC II. She did not have any concrete info (of course), but said they are working on how it would be structured and work for old and new members. Also no word on BCV presales and no confirmation of Spring 2002 opening. She said VEP looks "amazing"!
