Help! Ink in dryer/clothes!

My dh left a pen in his pocket... it exploded in the dryer. How do I get the ink spots off the inside of the dryer? And is there any way to get it out of the clothes? I had a new outfit in there, and my ds's fave Marine shirt from Parris Island. Of coarse, not a spot on any of dh's things.

I have heard to try hairspray to get ink out of clothes. I have no idea if it works on ink that is set in after the clothes have been washed tho.

We had the same thing happen not to long ago. We used warm water and Dawn dish soap on the inside of the dryer, if it was a gel ink pen, it'll come out a lot easier than you think....We didn't have any get on the clothes from what we could see, so no advice there. Hope all goes well getting it out.

Nail polish remover got most of it off the inside of our dryer, but I nearly killed myself. You gotta venilate and cover your mouth a little bit before you stick your head in a dryer filled with acetate and alcohol

Clothes....I don't know, I truly don't. Wish I did!

My hubby just did the same thing a couple of months ago, I was ready to scream. Thankfully it was a very small load of wash, the ink didn't come out. BUT it wiped off the inside of the dryer very easily with just a rag. I have used hairspray in the past to get out ink. I just didn't want to waste my time, too much ink to try that on. Maybe it'll work in your case?!?!?

Hairspray, gobs of it, and the cheaper the better. The pink can of Aquanet works great!

For the clothes.....

Mix 1 Cup CLOROX 2 COLOR SAFE BLEACH and 1 cup CASCADE POWDER DISHWASHING DETERGENT in a 5 gallon pail of HOT water - give it a good stir to make sure it's all incorporated - then add the stained clothes - soak overnight - then dump the whole bucket into your washer and run a long cycle with an extra rinse cycle. This method gets out literally ANY stain.

I would have your husband get the hair spray out and scrub the inside of the dryer and if that didn't work, hand him the nail polish remover and let him try to get it out with that. I have never manged to get ink out of my clothes though...

My work bud had a pen explode in his pants back pocket once, and I gave him a Shout wipe. The stain was nasty, I really didn't think the Shout would work. He said it came out completely after he washed them.

Now, the heat from the dryer may have set in the stains in your DHs clothes.

no idea how to get it out of clothes. Eventually it will wear off the drum tho without showing up on more clothes

This has happened to me also. After trying everything and I do mean everything the ink did not come out of a few items of clothing.

This is why DH now does his clothes separately. He left a sharpie in his pocket. So not pretty. Never got the ink out of the clothes and it just stained the inside of the drum.
