Help?! In line for soarin' now

It sounds like one side might have gone down for technical reasons. For the time to change dramatically like that. It can happen anywhere really, it stinks but delays are always possible when it comes to rides. Over the years I've been stuck on many rides at WDW... headed up the hill on Splash Mountain, going through the anti-lock brakes area in Test Track, even walked down out of the top of Spaceship Earth with the lights on. That was actually pretty cool. The worst delay I ever had was at Universal last summer, the kids and I were in line for Gringott's. It said 60 minutes but due to technical issues ended up being about a 3 hour wait. We just about lost our minds.

But the difference with Universal is that you won't be charged $10pp because you missed an ADR or
you won't run the risk of losing a hard to get FP because of an attraction malfunction. Nowadays, when things break down at Disney, it can really interfere with all of your reservations. It can be a domino effect.
Just curious, were you stuck on the ride for 3 hours or did you choose to remain in line for 3 hours?

I'm quite sure they'd be willing to waive the adr fee under those circumstances, even though you could've left the line at any time. It's unfortunate that people abusing the system created the need for those fees, but that's another matter entirely.

The worst that could happen is you'd lose an upcoming fp+, but again- if the fp+ is important- leave the line. I don't think this is all that common. I've read about this twice now and in this case, doesn't seem the wait was all that long when you figure it out. Certainly was not a 90 minute wait.

Yes, you could always leave the line, you can choose to vacation elsewhere, you can choose not to make any FP+ reservations or any ADR's.

In the past, however, you did not run the risk of paying an ADR fee or losing a FP+ reservation made 60 days ago, because the posted SB times were much more reliable. For my last vacation, it sucked out the spontaneity of deciding to go on a ride with a short SB line because I was afraid to lose my FP+ reservation for a headline attraction Or worse yet, get charged for a missed ADR. Despite what you say, you don't know if the ADR fee would be waived.
