My DD13 has been going out, (I hate that term because they really don't "go out" anywhere), with the same boy, (14), for a year now. They are both 8th graders. They really seem to have a good relationship with each other, very respectful and kind. This is her first boyfriend and his first girlfriend. My husband and I and the boy's parents stay in close contact with one another, and they are NEVER left unsupervised. They are never alone in one another's house, and they do not go anywhere alone, except the movies once in awhile, and school dances, which are supervised by teachers.

Sorry, but I just wanted to say all that because I know a lot of people will think they are very young, and I hear a lot of parents say that they would never allow their son or daughter to have a boyfriend/girlfriend at 13/14. Believe me, we are extremely careful about supervision, and our daughter knows where we stand as far as appropriate behavior.

ANYWAY, back to the reason for posting. Valentine's Day is coming up and I know the boyfriend has bought, (I'm sure, with the help of his parents), roses and a stuffed animal for our daughter. He did the same thing last year, and he has bought her jewelry for her birthday and Christmas.

What would be something appropriate for a 13 year old girl to get a 14 year old boy for Valentine's Day? It shouldn't be too personal, but something meaningful. It seems that girls are easier to buy for- flowers, candy, stuffed animals.

Anyone out there have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

If he likes jewelry, how about an ID bracelet?

How about a CD of his favorite band (that he doesn't have yet)?

Does he collect anything special??

I hope that this helps.........

Well, my DH is 36 (almost 37), but I got him a couple of movies on DVD that he wanted. Not terribly romantic, but I know he will like them. So I guess I would suggest something along the line of his interests. Good luck.

Most boys that age would love to get CDs of their favorite music. Your DD probably knows what he would like and doesn't already have. I was never sure about what to get for my teen aged nephews so often got them gift certificates for CDs.

I just recently ordered a mug with a personal picture on it from Sony's Imagestation.com Maybe something like that with a picture of them together filled with candy - boys like candy too - just not in big heart shaped boxes.

I'm sure that a big box of his favorite homemade goodies would also be appreciated. Maybe a cute picture of her also.

Matching tshirts - there's some really cute Mickey ones at disney.com if they are into the Mouse.

Is he into sports? Maybe your DD could get him some type of memorablia from his favorite team. She could also bake him a batch of his favorite cookies, you know the fastest way to a man's heart is through his stomach ;) .
