We're going in August and opted not to take the dinning plan and had a few places we wanted to go to lunch or dinner for a sit down meal. I have a 8yr and 11yr old and have been looking at the menu's I will have to pay adult price for my 11yr old who eats nothing, and this is going to upset me to no end when she eats a salad and a few bites of her main meal and I am paying anywhere from $20 to $43 for her meal. Is it best to take the meal plan at $895.00 for the four of us or is there a cheaper way that I can get away with the meals? Will they let her order off the kids menu if one is offered. I know at the buffet I will have to pay adult price for her which I really don't want to do. Help please.
Thanks,
Shelby

Some of the table service places will let her order a childs meal but not always. It depends on the CM. Another option would be to share off of your meal, or let the kids split a meal.

She should be able to order a kids meal at most restaurants. I have ordered off the kids menu for myself at several WDW restaurants over the past few years and have never had a problem. Buffets, of course, will charge the full price regardless of what she eats. There's just no getting around that. But ordering off the kids menu or sharing meals (DH and I often do this) will save quite a bit of money.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking.

If you are asking about whether the Dining Plan is still "worth it" for $35 for an 11 yr old picky eater - I suggest you do the math (I had to! My dd is extremely picky eater!!)

1. I mapped out our "must do's" esp buffets - PSB, H&V, 1900 Park Fair - I added the cost for those that we'll do regardless - and they'll charge adult fee of app $20 - $24 (I think that's right)

2. The dining Plan is worth it for us, because we'll get to eat at a few Signature restaurants that are on our "dream/wish" list!! (cali grille, Artist Point) However, with DD we wont order her a meal, she wont eat it -

3. Many places she was (as well as my mom ) able to order off the child's menu, with n o problems - just not the child's price for the buffets.. which wasnt a problem.

4. Ask at those places where she would only eat a salad if you could "Pay out of pocket" for her meal as she only wants a salad...etc.

:confused3 not sure... it may depend on the restaurant.

You shouldn't feel like you have to order her an entire meal. You can just get her a salad and dessert if that's what she wants. I often order just an appetizer and ask for it to come with my husband's entree. You could probably order a side of fries for her. Disney World is VERY accommodating for food options at the sit down restaurants. All you have to do is ask.

I agree with the others, you will be better off ordering her a kids meal or just side dishes, etc..

And I do feel your pain. ;) I just realized that if we do the CP Package on Christmas Eve like we hope to, my DS will have turned 10, 6 days earlier, therefore the plain plate of pasta he will get at Alfredos (thats all he would eat, definitely no adult meals) will cost us almost $50.00!!!! :rotfl2:
