Here is the background…
We just joined DVC BCV in Sept., and are closing on Oct 26. Yea!
We have ressies at OKW for 11/2-11/6, but we would really like to come ‘home’ to BCV for our first stay. We are on the waitlist, but I am losing hope that it will come through.

Now my need for advice – I checked the WDW website and they have BCV 1-bedroom rooms available for our time of stay. I believe I understand the difference between the cash side and the point side. Seeing as our contract closes on 10/26, shouldn’t another room at BCV become available for DVC on that day? What are our chances of it working for us? It would go to the first name on the waitlist, wouldn’t it? (Which probably isn’t us.)

Just trying to make our first DVC experience as magical as it can be. I have read many good things about OKW, and I am sure we will have a great time there too.

Thanks for your help!

I'll try to answer your question as I understand it. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me. Before ANY interest in a particular building can be sold, it must be declared a DVC unit. At that time, DVC members can reserve stays using points in that unit. Closing dates on contracts really has nothing to do with unit availability, especially since DVC uses a point system, rather than assigning you a particular week every year. It is possible that not ALL buildings at BCV have as yet been declared as belonging to DVC, therefor it is possible that cash ressies may be available, when point ressies are not.

Chuck is correct.

Basically, DVC declares inventory ahead of the sales %- so there is always more availability on points than what has actually been sold.

You should see if your guide can work some "magic" for you. They are sometimes able to find point reservations where seemingly none exist.

Good Luck!

Update - Hubby was on the phone with our guide (Randy) while I was originally writing this. Randy has put our banking request on hold and told us to wait and see if the waitlist comes through for us and "not to worry."

I hope this may mean something good! :)

I'll keep you informed!

Okay, while I was typing I see you have got good answers to your questions. I was typing a long answer, but I will go with what Chuck and Doc said.

Good luck, and enjoy your DVC!
