Hi,

I am on SBD and I want to use a ready made salad dressing.

It seems everything I find at the store has corn syrup and/or high fructose.

I need more flavor than what I get with mixing oil and balsamic vinegar.

Any suggestions.

Thanks.

Marie's Blue Cheese is an option. I think Balsamic Vinegar has a lot of carbs in it! I use Xtra Virgin Olive Oil with wine vinegar and add a little mayo and some onion/garlic powder. It's quite tasty. You can also add a little gourmet mustard if you like to your dressing.

I use any of the dressings that are 2 or less carbs. Usually Bleu Cheese, ranch, caesar, or italian dressings work! Just stay away from the high-sugar ones like Western, French, and Thousand Island.

Hi,

Thanks Rhonda, I will try one of those. I especially like Ranch I'll look for the 2 carbs or less.

Hi Lynn CC,

Thanks for the receipe. I think I have all those ingredients, I'll try that tomorrow.

Hidden Valley Full Fat Ranch has only one carb in it for 2 tbsp. Also, since you say that you are looking for flavor, if you have an Aldi's nearby, they have a dressing called Fresh Garlic Caesar. It is VERY flavorful, and only one carb per 2 tbsp.

:)

I make Good Seasons Italian dressing and add a packet of Splenda to it to cut the acidity. It is heavenly and has little to no carbs in it. I use wine vinegar in it instead of white or basalmic.

We use balsamic vinegar frequently. Sometimes I add lemon juice. I was amazed to see it might have alot of carbs. Is it really a problem?

Only if you are counting carbs. ;)

Be sure to check your labels. I do know that true balsamic vinegar is a VERY reduced vinegar which is basically fruit juice. So it makes sense that it would be high in carbs. And I know that on the web site, Atkins warns against it on induction.
