I need help with ideas for my 10 almost 11 year old daughter for Christmas this year. I've probe around asking what she would like and she has not really stated anything.

She is at that in between stage where sometimes she still plays with american girl dolls and sometimes is too "old" to play with them.

She has a nintendo ds and an I pod. I was thinking an I tunes gift card, a movie gift card, and a gift card to a local frozen yogurt place that she loves but I do want some gifts to actually wrap for her to open.

I am open to suggestions folks as I am really drawing blanks this year.

I'm sort of in that same boat. My DD turned 9 this past summer (and stilll, as of right now, believes in Santa). I asked her the other day if she had any ideas for Santa yet (usually her list has long been started) and the only thing she told me was a fishing pole! She fished with my brother & dad this summer and LOVED it. I told her that might be a good idea for PapPap and to keep thinking for Santa ;).

For her birthday, she got an iPod Touch and LOVES it. I wasn't too keen on the idea, but DH talked me in to it and I will tell ya, it's a HUGE HIT! She and her friends love to make videos and chat with each other. I put restrictions on it when it comes to what she can download and what You Tube & Internet stuff she has access too and she doesn't know the password so she can't change it and she can't purchase any Apps without asking me first, but she rarely asks because there is so much free stuff out there.

I am also making her a gift card tree. I have been picking up gift cards here and there to her favorite places....Justice, Aeropostle, the movies, Claire's, Itunes, the nail salon, Gather & Glaze...and I bought a little table top tree that I'm going to tie the gift cards too and leave under the tree.

My DD is still in her AG dolls and has asked for a armoire for the clothes, so I found one on Amazon that I bought and I found some cute outfits (not AG brand...she's not bothered by the accessories NOT being AG).

I am also making up a Magician kit. She went to a magic themed birthday party recently and now is into that. I found a book of tricks at the 5 Below store and bought a cape & top hat cheap on Amazon, as well as a magic deck of cards and book to go with that. I am going to go through the book from 5 below and gather the "items" she needs to perform tricks (most are just stuff I have around here). I went to Garden Ridge yesterday and found a cute trunk (more like an old style square, hard suitcase) to put all of this stuff in.

Finally, I have a little spa kit started for her. I have picked up some things cheap throughout the year, including a nail dryer machine (from Justice) and am keeping a lookout for a spa wrap & slippers. I got a hair turbie thing (she likes to wrap up her hair after a shower while she primps and a regular towel is so heavy). I am going to get some kind of kaboodle to put some nail polish and other "spa" items in too I think.

Sounds like a ton now that I've written it all out, but it really isn't and I've gotten great deals of most of this stuff. Now I will just wait and see what she actually asks Santa for. I'm hoping the jewelry armoire idea will pop into her head, because that's what I'd like to get her. We redid her rood last spring and she uses 1/2 of my armoire and I know she'd love her own in her room, but I want it to be her idea and that could be her big gift under the tree.

I know my mom is gathering scrapbook stuff her for her. She loves those.

Good luck to you and maybe these gave you some ideas :confused3

So far for my 13 year old, who sounds about the same, I have a pair of Ugg boots, that I found 75% off. $37. Yesterday I bought her a 3DIpod viewer thing made by Hasbro. Not sure how it will be but it was $10 and uses some free apps. Besides that I have gotten some good chocolate.

Some ideas are books, Sally Hanson nail press ons, itunes gift card. Hmm sounds like I need ideas too.

Hmm, do you allow her to wear nail polish or lip gloss? I love the spa kit--a great way to get her to start thinking about caring for herself.

A digital camera?

Books or CDs? DVDs? a new video game for her DS---a special case or stylus?

Apron, cookbook and some cooking stuff? Start teaching her how to prepare meals.

Tea set--a real one. My daughter got one for her 10th or 11th Christmas and she has used it every year since (she turned 20 this year). And some decent teas.

I am thinking of getting an Ipod docking station with speakers, any suggestions on a nice but decent price range one.

My DD is 9, will be 10 right before Christmas and she is kind of at the same stage. She still wants AG dolls and stuff but I'm trying to curb that some because she really doesn't play with it that much anymore. The other things she has asked for this year are really all over the place. She wants an iPod Touch, anything Vera Bradley, Friends Lego sets, video games (particularly Pokemon), and collectible Barbies. She always wants new books and movies too. She just recently discovered the Anne of Green Gables movies so she'll probably get those. And there are several book series that she enjoys - The Grimm Sisters, the Shoes books, and she's kind of gotten into The Borrowers and the Little House stories.

I'm still sorting out exactly what we're going to get and what will be for b'day, what will be Christmas. Since her brother also wants an iPod, they will probably both get those for Christmas. And I'm seriously thinking about letting her b'day present be a weekend in Atlanta to go to the AG store there. We've been planning to go forever and have never gotten around to it. She will really and truly be too old for that before much longer so I'm thinking that this might be the year.

Btw, I'd love to hear suggestions for iPod docks too. I plan to get one for each of the kids - preferably one that's got a clock and radio.

Maybe use the same tactic I use with dh? Go window shopping with her, even if it's under the pretense of something else, and see what things she's interested in. Then try desperately to remember.

DD got this http://www.amazon.com/iHome-Color-C...=1347800221&sr=8-1&keywords=ipod+docking+cube for Christmas last year. She loves it. She used it with her ipod Nano until she got her Touch this summer. It comes with several different adapters so it works with her Nano, my Ipod (circa 2006ish), her Touch and my Iphone. The speakers work really well and the main reason I bought it was because it also charges the device while it's docked...so it doesn't just suck the life out of the device while it's being played.

We did the AG store here in D.C. last year after Christmas and I say go for it. It was a great experience and tons of fun. We ate lunch (it was surprisingly delishish) and shopped some with gift cards she had received from Christmas!

What does she want? I bought DD her last AG doll at 11, she didn't "play" with it but it was displayed with the rest. I said as long as she wanted a doll I was buying one!
I'm sure she will think of something she really wants by Christmas, so you might want to hold out until then. DD has 2 iPod stations, but mostly uses her phone now and laptop not so much her iPod Touch.

Does she like to read? What about a Kindle or nook.
A room make-over- new bedding, curtains and accessories.
Tickets to an upcoming concert or event

For the pp that mentioned an Ipod docking station, I saw tond of different ones on clearance at my Toys R Us store. I didn't pay attention to the prices but they had them in bins all over the store.

DD12 got this one last Christmas and loves it!

We re-did DD's room for her bday and it was a big hit. DD12 also loves the house legos - she has marked the page for the beach house this year. Does your DD like arts & crafts? How about a class or like another pp, a box of some favorite craft supplies?

I'm thinking about giving DD a cake decorating class certificate because she really loves to decorate cookies & cupcakes. She got the EZ Bake Oven decorating pen a few years ago and still uses it. It's easy because she doesn't have to use any strength to get the frosting out since it's battery operated. The push adult style decorators were too tough to use.

She also loves to do her nails and is really good at applying those little decals. She has a nail kit and loves to give manis to herself and others.

Maybe a piece of jewelry, like a charm bracelet, where she could add a charm every year? I got one when I was around her age, and I still wear it from time to time. It holds a lot of sentimental value for me, too.

Sorry for jumping in OP but my ds is 10 and I have NO CLUE what to get him:confused3 would love some ideas (he has a ds,ipod and wii)

Boys are easier, IMO. As long as it's not pink or purple, colors don't matter. :lmao: And they can wear the same clothes as their best friend. :rotfl2:

Skateboard, ramps, safety gear
video games
legos (the big kits are awesome)
Beywheelz (the new version)

Oh--new controllers for the Wii--they have some really awesome ones out.
Skylanders--there is a new game coming out, that uses the same pod as the original, but now they are Giants!

DS's 9th birthday is next month, and he's getting cash (his request)--he's been saving allowance for a 3DS, and this will push him up to his goal. For Christmas, he's getting a new sleeping bag, mess kit, and other small camping gear--he'll need it for summer camp this year; plus the usual legos/video games.

DD recently had her 11th birthday. She is still into AG, BAB, and Barbie. Some of the things she has gotten for her birthday and other recently, or still wants:
AG Doll Dining book thing
Gymnastic leotard and gold medal to play pretend Olympics
Fancy party dress
Necklace which is a dime laser cut to look like a soccer ball
This Is Not a Book (Keri Smith?)- still on the way, looks fun- this author has a few interactive fun books out
Pajamas
Fashion sketch books
Digital camera

I always get the girls a Christmas ornament that reflects their interests of that year- a favorite animal, character, etc.

DD13 will get some Dover coloring books (more geared to adults) for her birthday- she has recently started wanting to color again.

Their absolute favorite Wii game is Go Vacation. If you take the time to really explore that game, there is so much depth beyond the sports games. You can explore and discover so much (especially with hints from the internet). It's incredible.

We have recently gotten them a simple bow and arrows that they like. They want a compound bow.

So far for my 13 year old, who sounds about the same, I have a pair of Ugg boots, that I found 75% off. $37. .

Any chance this was online and recent? DD12 has birthday money she wants to spend on Uggs, but certainly doesn't have enough money for full price.

I have a DD the same age who has unfortunately passed the dolls and toys stage. Ideas I have for her this year are:

New bedding and/or room decor to make her room a bit more grown up

purses and wristlets

magazine subscriptions centered around her interests

picture frames

special clothing items - nicer ones than we would normally buy. Lululemon would be her fav brand that we normally don't spend the money on but would for Christmas

lip gloss and other beauty items and supplies:
flat iron
her own hair dryer
nice brushes
toiletries from bath and body works and the body shop
hair accessories

also around here bracelets are super in - the kind that are made from thread and beads. girls like to wear an eclectic assortment all at the same time

Note: she's not getting all these things - these are just ideas we are considering
