Hi! As you can tell it has been a bit since I have been to the world (Nov 2010) and my husband just told me if I could get a trip for under $1500 we can go back. This is what I have but I know there is a better way to figure out prices. When I look up on the Disney website I dont think I am getting the 30% off deal. What is the rack rate? I was looking at the dates of April 16 through April 20-21st. It would be my husband, me and my 5 year old daughter. I would like the park hoppers and dining. Is there something I am missing, I get the price of $1687 for value? Please help!!!:worship:

If you need to get a value room, hopping tickets and dining all for $1500 or less, it's not possible even with the Spring room offer unless you stay fewer days. I quoted ASMusic April 16-21, non-preferred standard room with the discount and 5 day hopping tickets for $1462.57. Take off hopping and it goes down to $1286.85 and take off hopping and add Quick Service dining and you're at $1696.70. $1877.35 for the same scenario except with regular dining. These prices are all with the 30% off Spring room discount. If you want me to run some different dates, let me know!

Maybe price the week after. Reason I am saying this is because a lot of New England has that week off for spring break. We will be there the 12-22, but we are staying at Bonnet Creek so I'm not sure what Disney pricing is. But I do know that if it is any sort of school vacation week, prices generally run higher. That could be impacting the rates you are seeing.

Best of luck to you!!!

Okay, it is doable if you're okay with non-hopping tickets and quick service dining and a stay of one less day. $1499.93 for April 16-20, 5 day base tickets (if you're coming in early and leaving out late) and QS dining. You can take off approximately $25 for each day less of tickets, ie. 4 day tix save you about $25 and 3 day tix will save you about $60.

I just want to be sure that you realize you have to factor in air/travel expenses to get there as well or is the $1500 for room/tix/dining? Even at that $1500 is really not that much even with discounts. I really hope you make it work though :goodvibes

no kidding!! the more and more i play with all different options, I am not so sure I could make it work!! i have tried everything and I hate to say it but my DH really wants the hopper and the food!! I worry that the quick dining is not enough for him.

Thanks so much for helping me! :worship: when is the next special coming out? would it better to go in March for the free disney day? or would that be really busy? we could go in March (I think).

I think your best chance of getting under the $1500 mark would be to wait and go in the fall, when it is value season and free dining is likely. March/April are spring break season so the room rates are higher and the discounts aren't as good.

It's going to be next to impossible to get in under $1500 unless you're willing to compromise somewhere. For five day park hoppers, you're looking at about $900 alone, which is a good chunk of your budget. Add in that you'd still need lodging for 4-5 nights and food for 5-6 days and you can see how there's just not enough money.

I agree with Colleen about looking in the fall for free dining. I ran a package with random dates of Sept 24-29 with 6 day park hoppers at AS Movies. The total cost was $1504. If you get free dining, then that'll take care of most of your food needs if your DH will agree to quick service. If he wants restaurants, you have to pay to upgrade, which will put you over your budget, unless you dump a night and/or get rid of park hoppers.

Your other alternative would be to look for a place offsite, but honestly, with only have about $600 after park tickets, I don't even think that would work unless you get a great rate on a room with a small kitchen and eat the majority of your meals in the room. $600 is not a lot for food, lodging and parking.

Honestly, you probably are better off waiting until you can either save a bit of extra money or talk DH into spending more on a vacation.

Okay I hope I am not repeating anyone but I did not see it mentioned. The Spring room offer is UP to 30% off the discount on the value rooms is actually only 15-20 percent based on the dates of travel. If you look on the Disney website at the special offers they have dates in pink and dates in blue and it is dependent on when you travel whether it is 15 or 20. The values are not being offered at 30%. I am not sure whether you can get there for under 1500.00 especially if you will not give up food or park hopping as free dining has already passed for the near future unless for some reason they offer it again. It seems like you have some pretty good prices for rooms already. If you need airfare you need to get it soon otherwise you might have missed the window for that as well. Good luck!

I'm not sure it can be done.

We have a trip booked for later this month, which I am going to cancel because we booked a Disney cruise instead.

It was just DD9 and I, booked at ASMu with the 25% off discount that was offered a while back, for 6 nights (a little over $400 total). We were planning to pay OOP for our meals...Crystal Palace breakfast, Tusker House breakfast, Akershus breakfast, 50's Prime Time dinner, and maybe Sci-Fi dinner...and the rest CS (around $400). Our airfare would be $400 total round trip through Southwest (I was waiting for that to go down, but it hasn't). We were planning to sign up for Homeschool Days, and our park tickets would have cost $375 total for (2)7 day park hoppers. ...that's around $1600 for one adult and one child, 6 nights/7 days. We probably over-budgeted on the meals, because we often share a CS, but I didn't want to run short on money and HAVE to share, if that makes sense. ;)

Good luck though! I hope you find a way to make it work! :wizard:

So...here are my suggestions:

1) plan to go during Value Season, the resort rates will be at their least expensive

2) price out paying OOP for meals vs. the DDP, it's almost always less expensive for us (and don't do a TS every day, try for every other day instead...also, choose less expensive meals -- 50's Prime Time, Sci-Fi, character breakfasts instead of dinners, etc.)

3) try to plan your itinerary to do without park hoppers, if you can

4) look into the YES Individual Enrollment program...I'm pretty sure you do not have to be homeschoolers to participate, your DD would get to attend a fun class one morning of your trip, and you would get your park tickets at close to half off

If you were interested in the YES program, it coincides with Value Season in January/February and September.

Can't you shorten the trip by a day? that would save....Or check out May prices. It typically is cheaper than April.

or tell your DH that if he wants hoppers and dining this is what the cost is, but with out them it comes to this....

Thanks everyone for their information! I gave him all the information and now he has to think about it for a bit... He always wants everything for cheap! I guess I will keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again for all the help!!
