Help, I need gift ideas for DD's teacher.

My DD is is graduating from her preschool next month and I need ideas for her teacher. She is in Early Intervention for Speech and hearing therapies and has had the same teacher for three years. I would really like to get her teacher a gift to show our appreciation for all the help she has given our DD these past three years. I would love to hear everyone's ideas.

I teach Kindergarten, so I can give you ideas of what students/parents have given me in the past: candles, Tinkerbell stuff (they know I love Tink and I have received Tink dolls, keychains, ornaments, etc.), Mary Engelbreit trinkets, Bath & Body works products, nice boxes of chocolates, flowers, etc. The main thing I receive is gift cards, from Target, Bath and Body Works, Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, etc. I like gift cards a lot, but I think I like the other stuff more, just cause they took the time to choose it for me. I especially love receiving cards with a nice note written into it, telling me specific things that they enjoyed this year. That really means a lot.

Honestly, I'd have your DD drawn a picture that you can make into a card and write the teacher a heartfelt note. Inside of it I'd tuck a gift card to her favorite store or restaurant.

Last year my dsis and some other moms came up with a teacher gift that I thought was pretty cool. They painted a flower pot a solid color, then pressed their kids hands in paint, putting handprints in different colors all over the pot. They made a neat design around the top of the pot, with a cute saying about helping them to grow or something like that. They sealed the pot with some kind of shellac, then filled it with small gardening supplies, like a trowel and gloves, etc., as well as flower seeds. The pot was small enough to be near an indoor window if she did not have a deck to put it on.

I'm getting DDs teacher a plain Build-a-Bear animal (no clothes) and then purchasing the little "World's Greatest Teacher" kit that comes with a plaid vest for the "bear", a ruler, an apple, a book that says "World's Best Teacher" and a pencil that fits behind the bear's ear- it's too cute and very memorable I think.
