Just a little background- I am a stay at home Mom- no money! :thumbsup2 . I have three special needs children who need medical support daily. My oldest child is performing in a music festival Sat. March 30, 2006. I want to be with him very much. The problem is I need Grandma to help me with the needs of the other two - Dad will be with oldest DS. I've just found out that Grandma has been approved for time off from work and we can be in Orlando Thursday, March 29 through Sunday, April 1, 2006.

I have AAA, am a Georgia resident, and have a Loews Gold card- however, all I can find for Royal Pacific is $316/night. I would stay off site but I am restricted to no night driving so we have to stay on sight or we can't go. I know it's short notice but this may be the only time that oldest DS gets to play as he has extensive health problems that often keep him homebound when Dad's not be able to travel with him.

So, please help me find a rate that we can afford- $300plus per night is more then we can afford. We don't care about view, just no smoking/no pets and it has to be on sight- thanks-

That looks like the best deal out there right now. Unfortunately, it is very high season and the hotel rates are very high as well.

Hope this does not sound insensitive, but have you tried the Make A Wish foundation? They may be able to help. Wishes are not only granted to terminally ill children, but also children with significant medical needs.

Damo- Thanks for looking for me- if anyone could find a good rate - it would probably be you!

Make A Wish is a very good group but I doubt they would pay for us to just go see him play. It doesn't sound insensitive- no worries;) My oldest has a terminal disease so we have been approached when he was in the hospital. If we do a wish trip it would be for a cruise or maybe a GKTW stay with tickets for all the parks.

I only need to have a place to stay to see him perform. His trip is all covered- fund raisers and all that stuff. It's just a want of mine- when your kids are sick all the time with problems that will not go away for the rest of their life, you tend to really try hard to be a part of all of their special memories.

I'll keep trying- I never put off room reservations until this late in the game ( because you can't get any good rates! ) but we didn't know that we were going to be able to attend until today.:sad1:

For Thursday, the rate is only $259. For Friday and Saturday, the rate is $319. That helps a little bit! This is at the Royal Pacific.

Give Loews a call. Maybe they can come up with something else.

Could you stay at a nearby hotel that offers transportation to Universal? If you are able to book offsite at a considerable difference you could pay for cabs back and forth and still save money. I am aware of a few offsites that are at least 1/2 the price of Universal onsites for that time of year.

Just realized you were from Georgia. You can get the Florida Resident's rate for Thursday for $233 but there is no resident's rate for the weekend. There is a bit more savings! This is at RPR.

Thank you for all of the suggestions!:grouphug:

We were able to arrange our schedule so that we can arrive and leave in the daylight hours.

Part of my situation is that I need to move the kids and some of their medical equipment into the resort rooms- off sight scares me just a little because I am not familier with the area or hotels- I always feel safer on WDW property and have been fine with RP in the past. I'm more comfortable staying at familiar places when DH is not with us- he'll be with the school group at their hotel so no help to me this time.

Our plan is to stay at WDW Port Oleans Riverside for Thursday night- AAA discount- $157- not the best but better then over $200 to $300. We could have done values but Grandma has never been in a mod before and she said that she would pay the difference in the room prices so we are all set. She'll love RP I'm sure if she thinks that a mod is great!:)

We'll arrive at Royal Pacific Friday morning, check in- get our room keys and take the youngest two boys to the parks for the afternoon.:dance3:

Next, we'll check out of Royal Pacific Saturday morning, retaining our room keys for use at the parks Saturday afternoon. The kids can play at the parks and then we'll check in to Coronado Springs Resort around 5-ish- again AAA discount.

Last, we'll leave for home on Sunday morning. We will be able to drive during daylight hours for all arrivals and departures, get a little lower rate through WDW resorts verses RP at Universal and still have the Universal express access with the room keys for the days that we are at the parks.

Yes, it's a lot of resort changing but sometimes it takes a bit more to enjoy the trip- I would not have been able to relax and enjoy the trip for worrying about how I was going to pay off the room charges:teacher: .

All I have to do now is get the best price for two days park admission- it looks like the $85 deal from USO is the cheapest right now?

Are there any better rates available- we really only need 2 parks/ 2 day tickets but they are more expensive then the $85 deal?!
