Hi everyone ... Me, my husband and my 1 1/2 yr old daughter will be crusing for the first time on March 6th. I asked for the first seating for dinner thinking that it would be better for my daughter. It would stay within her current schedule. Unfortunately, I got my package today and we are down for the 2nd seating. I panicked and called my agent and she was told that we were on the waiting list. I called disney in desperation and the lady that i talked to said that there was nothing she could do... However she did say that i was probablu better off with the latter seating. She said the shows are around 6.30 and that the kids are awake enough to enjoy them. I am worried that my DD will be to cranky for an 8.30 dinner. I need advice. Should i keep panicking or am i really better off.... Anyone outhere had a similar experience?

I hope that this is the only thing that goes "not according to plan"

Lusitana,
First, Welcome to the DIS! Lots of friendly people and good info here!

Second, once you board the ship you can go to a "dining changes" session and request to be moved to the early seating. I'm sure they'll do everything they can to accomodate you with a young child. But, if for some reason they can't move you, know that you can always feed your little one via room service or the casual buffet option at Topsiders, at her regular time, and then just have the adults eat at your late seating. It's Disney, there's always another option!

Third, there are lots of Dis-ers on the March 6th cruise (me included!) and many of them have young children! (me not included) At the top of the cruise forum is a link for cruise meets-- all the DIS-ers on the March 6th cruise have a thread going over there, and you're more than welcome to join us as we countdown to our cruise!

Welcome again!

oh, and if you'd like to check out the various menus to see what your DD (dear or disney daughter) might eat, or learn virtually anything else about disney cruises, check out:
castawayclub.com
dcltribute.com

Both have been extremely helpful for me as I plan!

My suggestion would be when you get on board to go see the Maitre De. Ask if he could accommodate you and move you to early dining. They usually can since they want to make you happy. What happens is early dining gets filled up first because most people with young children would like to eat early. They don't want everyone eating at early dining and only a handful at late. So, what they do is close out early dining to fill up the late one. They usually have tables open at early and are able to accommodate someone like you who asks to be switched.

As far as being better off at late dining, I think the Disney agent just told you that to make you feel better. I personally like late dining because I like the extra time before dinner to get ready. If you think your daughter might be cranky at late dining, then, IMHO, you will not be better off. You have to do what's best for you. I really do think you will be fine though and they will be able to move you to early dining.

Good luck!

thanks .... that sure made me feel better. Having late dining will sure make this trip a bit unpleasant. i will try everything i can to change that.

Lusitana on the first DCL cruise.. everything we had said late dinning and we were wait listed for early.. but when we got on board.. the tickets in our state room said early.. so.

. have faith call and check , Disney really wants you in early but and will try and make it happen for you..
