I got my money from my mother I spoke to you guys about earlier. So now I've got the cash in the bank to purchase 150pts at BCV without financing.:) I don't know why, but I'm having trouble picking that phone up to call Jim McCoy, the guide I'm working with. I really want this, so I don't know what my problem is. I definately don't want BCV to sell out before I make my little purchase.

Maybe I just feel funny spending this money because my mother is still alive...I keep thinking, what if something happens and she needs it. Like, what if the medical profession comes out with a new cure for brain cancer and she needs that money to purchase that cure. That's crazy, I know, if a cure came out it would cost a heck of a lot more than $12,600!

Can you guys give me a little nudge in the right direction please?:)

jennymouse,

1st let me say I didn't see your previous post in regards to your mother - but from what a gather she is terminally ill - and for this I am sorry.

If your mother wanted to give you this money then you should have no guilt or worries about using it to purchase DVC/BCV - I am sure that it will probably give your mother great pleasure to do this for you while she is still with you.

I know that it would give me great joy to bring happiness to my children during a time of sadness if I were in the same situation.

Again I am sorry for your mothers illness I will keep your family in my prayers!

Well said yasuern. We are truely sorry to hear about your mother and we will all pray for a miracle. To me it sounds like a great way to continue to have your Mom in you life no matter what happens or when. 39 years of going home and saying thanks Mom. I cannot think of any better way to spend your money.

Thanks. I definately think DVC is a great way to spend this money...so I don't know why I'm hesitating. For one thing, I'd like to make ressies right away when I purchase, and with Mom's health, I don't know when we can go. I would wait until things become "more normal" in our lives, but with BCV possibly selling out soon, I'm afraid I'll miss the boat. I don't think I'd be as interested in SSR.

Hi Jennymouse!

I am also sorry to hear about your mom.

I was once in the same boat as you. I bought our first installment of DVC points w/the money that I received when my father passed away. While he was not alive when I received the money, I have no doubts that he is pleased with what I did. He has given our family a vacation every year until 2042! Of course, the dues are taken care of by us, but I still think of him often and thank him on each and every trip; because, he played such a big part in the purchase that has brought so much and will continue to bring so much joy to my children and me.

Best of luck w/your decision. It sounds like you know what you want to do. I bet your mom will be pleased to give you these vacations that mean so much to you. Nothing makes a mom happier than to put a smile on thier childs face. Esp. in times when smiles are so few. May your DVC purchase give you something to smile about through these rough times. Be sure to share your smile w/your mom.

Hi Kathy! Good to "see" you! Well, I did it! I just put a deposit down! I hope I did the right thing, I feel like I did!

Welcome Home!

I am so excited for you! Many happy memories to come :)

Hopefully one of our trips will cross again sometime, and I can say hello to you in person! If you are going in Oct again this year, most likely I will be there at the same time as we are going from the 5th through the 26th this year!

I will keep you in my thoughts as you are going through this difficult time.

Could someone direct me to a post that actually discusses the FINANCIAL spreadsheets which I'm sure have been done concerning the famous question:To buy or just rent like I usually do. Thank you. THis is an incredible board with great info.

Here are a couple of links that talk about buying or not. You can do a search at the bottome of the dvc discussion page to find more :)

Thank you so much Kathy. I considered the purchase before. It fell through and I never followed up.(it was a resale) BUT after coming back from staying at AKL over Presidents week with my 5 yo, I kinda got that "magic" feeling again.:jester:
