I thought I was done shopping......but I am not! For those of you who are familiar with boys this age (16) can you suggest anything (not too expensive - more of a token gift than a major gift). The only thing I can think of is an iTunes gift card. I need other suggestions! Thanks!

Movie tickets (as in two). We have a theatre that sells a two ticket plus $10.00 dollar credit for the concession stand. Great for a night out, even for a date night at that age.

If you don't mind gift cards, I recommend GameStop.

XBox Live points, B&N, Game Stop, movie gift cards.

My 18 and 15 yr. old sons would love any of those. :thumbsup2

How about a variety of $5 gift cards to fast food places? My nephews love getting these. That way when they are out with friends, they have the means to buy something to eat -- something 16 year old boys LOVE to do, but often can't afford!

Old Navy has the Techno Hoodie which has earbuds built into the neck drawstring and is fully washable. They were 15 bucks just a few days ago and there were some bright colors.

Or a hat. Sports teams or winter hats with funny characters or animals on top seem to be popular among DS's crowd (10-11 grade).

Xbox points like the PP mentioned, or LIVE membership.

Gift cards for fast food.

A cool belt.

Good luck!

I love this idea. For every day things and just "chillin" with their friends, they know they never have to worry about money to pay for the little things.

My 16 year old son wound't use an Itunes cards. He uses his Ipod as more of a mobile email device than a music or app player. He creates his own Apps, but an Itunes card would be no interest to him.

My 16 year old son got some comfy pajama pants, some Axe spray, sherpa lined sweatshirt, some accessories for his guitar, some accessories for his new keyboard, XBox live membership, a few Xbox games.

Gamestop would not be a bad idea. My son will always look for a used game first before a new game.

These look really cool. I don't know that my son would wear one, my DD would though.

I agree with the various gift cards. If you don't want to go with gift cards, Nerf anything-especially the Nerf guns. Depending on your budget they have a Nerf dart board to go with the Nerf guns that looks pretty fun too.

does he drive? My 16 yr old DS asked for 2 things:
Gas card and batteries

A gift card to Game Stop or Best Buy can get a huge variety of things...
I agree with the hoodies, fast food cards, novelty PJ /lounge pants,
one thing we are doing for our DS is a huge box with his fav snacks( 2 large jars of nacho cheese/ 4 bags tostito chops, 2 bags sour cream/onion chips red bull, gatorade, 12 pack coke) we're calling it "snack-in-a- box" and given the size, DS will have no idea what's in there.

Thanks for all your suggestions! One thing I forgot to mention is that the 16 year old boy lives far away from me, so I am not sure which fast food places would be near to him. Also, I don't think he has any sort of xbox or wii or ps. Since whatever I send to the family has to be light (to avoid $$$$$$ shipping costs), please keep your ideas coming! I think I have ideas for the rest of the family, it is just the 16 yo boy who is stumping me. Thanks again.

I agree with the GameStop or Best Buy gift card. The problem with the fast food gift cards is they forget to put them in their wallets. My almost 16 year old DD still has some from her stocking last Christmas because she forgets to use them.:headache:

Do they have a dvd player? There are lots of good movies to buy...DS (16) just saw The Other Guys and said it was funny, The A-Team, Despicable Me, The Expendables.
If you have their zip code for shipping, you can go to certain stores sites( Best Buy, McD's, etc. and put their zip code in the store locator and see if there is one nearby..might help with choosing a place.

My son wanted the movie Insecption for Christmas.

I am also getting him Call of Duty PJ pants from Target.

iTunes money, Walmart money, Target money are always appreciated at our house. My teen thinks gift cards are the bomb.

My DS is not 16 yet, 6 more months, but I am sure gas cards would be appreciated if he were that age.

my 16 year old prefers money. Gift cards are kind of limiting. Money he can spend anywhere he wants. He however prefers to save the money so doesn't actually spend it.

My teen boy would love an Itunes gift card.

Money. It is the perfect gift. It always fits, never needs to be returned or exchanged.

If you want to do something cute with it, tape it to a Nestle's $100,000 candy bar & put a note with it that says "It's not $100,000 but I hope you enjoy spending it on a little something for yourself".

My 16 year old woulnd't use gas cards... the driving age in this state is 17 or 18. He still has tons of time.

A HoodieBuddie would make a nice gift. It's a hoodie with built-in headphones. They are having a 50% off sale on their fan page right now (facebook.com/hoodiebuddie)

I was going to suggest iTunes card. My DS15 lives for them. Also, a travel mug with a Starbucks or DD card. He'd kill for that too! (there is a DD right across from the HS...how convenient!)

Candy, any kind of food gift card (subway, etc.), a gas card if he drives, or maybe a car accident kit (I saw them at the Christmas Tree Shop for under $10 and it included things like a measuring tape, a flashlight, etc.)
