My DH and his family love to camp. When I first met him, i thought it was weird. My motto was always "give me room service or give me death!"

But, lo and behold, I am starting to like this camping stuff.

We are planning a trip for our anniversary, and we are thinking about pitching our tent at Fort Wilderness. Any advice/suggestions?

My biggest concern: What do we do if it rains???

Welcome to the World of camping... Sept. is a big time rainy month at Disney, at least it's always been when we go. As long as your tent is water proofed, and nothing is up against the sides. the tent should stay pretty dry. It is hot in Sept. but if you can handle that, you should have a FUN time. I used to love to tent camp, and did it a lot as a child, but my husband introduced me to the world of campers. Good luck, and have fun with whatever you decide.

What do we do if it rains???

We have tent camped here in Florida for many years, mostly with Boy Scouts. Staying dry was always a concern, and Sept. can be a wet month, for sure. We found large waterproof bags were helpful, and the boys always rolled their sleeping bags & placed them into the bags first thing in the AM. Rubbermaid containers of various sizes are helpful for other items. We always kept extra shoes & one set of clothes in the van. And the clothes driers in the laundry room have come in handy many a time!

We always bring a screen tent - to set up over the picnic table. We keep the coolers, etc in there so everything stays relatively dry. We tried camping without one once, and we were sorry!

You won't have a problem in your tent when it rains, as long as you don't touch the sides or top from the inside! If you do, then it will leak where you touched it. So, when it rains at night, we always move into the middle of the tent, so we don't touch the sides by mistake. :D

Remember just because you are in a tent still take your fans and ask for a site with water and electric. you may pay a little more but you can take some luxuries with you.
I agree with the above post, but if your husband is a camper he will know what to do. Just let him do it ;.). I Love camping my husband becomes the man of the house he cooks, does dishes and I rest. Hey take me camping anytime.
