Help! I keep changing my resort reservation.

I'm spending my birthday at Disney with my mom this January! First I booked a little mermaid room at AoA. Then I booked us at Beach Club. Then I switched to AKL when we got a pin code. The total price for 6 nights is about $1604.

We will be there during marathon weekend so I wanted to avoid the value resorts...even though we stayed at All Star Music during marathon weekend one year and it was fine.

Anyway I'm debating switching to POFQ. There is availability for my dates and the total is about $1297 which is a savings of about $300.

We probably won't be spending a ton of time at the hotel if I'm being honest; but I've always wanted to stay at AKL. My mom on the other hand is perfectly content at a value and doesn't believe in spending the extra money for a nicer resort so I priced out a value and AKL and said I'd pay the difference.

I'm excited to spend a decent amount of time at Disney Springs so I'm thinking it might be nice to have that boat transportation. But I'm also wondering if I should just scrap both options and make this a budget trip at a value....

What would you do?

What if you did a split stay? Start at the value and move to AKL later in the trip.

I would go for POFQ but I am bias as it is our resort. The boat to DS is great and starting in the late afternoon does not share with POR. Staying there you can walk up to POR to
eat at their foodcourt and TS. The boats to DS are on a regular schedule unlike the buses which is a big plus imo.

I change my mind a lot, too, so don't feel too bad. I haven't stayed at POFQ but I have stayed at both AKL and POR, and I would pay $300 extra to stay at AKL over POR. I don't mean anything bad about Port Orleans resorts -- I actually LOVED POR -- but I do think $300 is worth it to try AKL, especially if you've always wanted to say there as you say. The dining, the balcony, the atmosphere, everything under one roof, the animal viewing areas. If it were a savings of $500 or more, I'd go with POFQ.

I've stayed at POFQ and AKL. Those are my two favorite resorts out of all the ones I've stayed at (I've also stayed at POR, ASsp, and Pop). I'd take AKL over POFQ in a heartbeat. Especially if the difference is that little. IMO, AKL is an amazing experience. But POFQ is also nice.

We love POFQ as our favorite moderate hotel hands down. But if you can afford (and it won't break the budget) the difference for a deluxe - AKL, give it a whirl. The little amenities at the deluxe hotels are what spoil you.

I was booked at POFQ and got a pin code to upgrade to AKL for $300. They booked us in a savannah bunk bed room. I am so glad we got to stay here because I could not afford this room without the pin code. The hotel was beautiful. The lobby was amazing. Our room was so nice, everything was clean, the view with the animals was so fun and amazing to see. This was my family's first trip and the hotel made it extra memorable. The food at The Mara was very good for breakfast and dinner.
