Having booked, and cancelled numerous trips since our first WDW visit in 2014, it is finally time to book something, and stick with it.

We originally, were going to have our long over due dream honeymoon 4 nights:cloud9: in Dec. 2016 at the Poly CL, and then life happened... so we cancelled, and took the airline credit.

I have picked a date, booked airline tickets and am furiously debating which resort and were to stay. The details: we have 13 nights, we want to do the parks right, and also see some non-disney things too like Universal and Kennedy Space. I want to be more relaxed than last time, didn't care for the go go go in the parks. Due to vacation calendars at both jobs(yes, the stay at home mommy finally went back to work!).. we agreed on the end of August like our 2014 trip.

Price:We may have increased our income, however, momma's bears penny pinching ways sometimes rolls around and I cringe at the prices. So aside for the my blabbering on of holy crow the price is how much... its not much of an issue, as my vacation fund as been saving up for 3 years, and we have yet to spend it, aside from the one time dip to fix the car.

Tickets: WDW is offering Canadians a 25% off ticket offer, which seems really good to grab.

Now, I am itching to do something, we need a proper vacation, and really want to see Universal and am at the DEBATE of which resort.

The resort debate itself:

I have this fantasy dream idea of the Poly, somehow as a kid I mixed together two different full house episodes, the Hawaii one and the one where they went to the grand at WDW and have always had the notion of staying at the Poly. Its similar to my fantasy of the DLH in Calif, never happened yet... but never say never.

Side note: I totally had this debate with my DW and we had to pull up Netflix and rewatch those episodes, and yes, she was right, two different Full House episdoes. Wah wah... oh well. Still its a fantasy. When we visited in 2014 we walked through the Poly, or at least what wasn't under construction.

So the big debate, which seems as old as time:

Where to stay? My heart would love Poly, however, I am aware the it is expensive, DW loves the Beach club, or at least when we went in 2014 after a boo boo with our DD, who got hurt getting off the friendship boat, and we had some magic Disney dust. The princess room has come up in the discussion, however, is that more for the DD or are we going to hate it.

I really don't want to go back to value, there was nothing room with the room other than the lack of space and double beds.

And I have thought about a split stay, however, I do not understand the whole process of what would happen by doing one...

So if you have made it down to the end of my never ending rambling post... do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for reading my rambling thoughts... I am on a sick day home today, and just keep dreaming. or is it swimming??? Either way, I need to book this so that it can be the big Christmas/Birthday/every holiday gift this year.

I'd say if your heart is set on the Poly, go for it! Rates should be lower at the end of Aug. You could also explore renting DVC points. That would allow you to stay at the Poly for less than rack rate. The drawback with renting points is that you would be unable to cancel the reservation if something came up.

Enjoy your trip!

If you have a dream to stay at any particular resort, and it is in your budget, then I say book the resort. I like the Poly a lot. It is not my favorite, I love the Grand, but my DD and her DH would choose to stay there every trip, if possible.

Stay at your dream resort - you've been waiting awhile and there are usually better rates then in late August. I have pm'd you also.

If you really want to do Universal right, stay on site for 2 nights at the beginning or end. Their 3 deluxe hotels are as nice as Disney's with service to match. We prefer the Hard Rock. And the free, unlimited Express Pass is great. Since you have 13 nights you won't miss the Disney "bubble" for too long.

At the end of August, to stay at Poly, I would go for a "Magical Deal". Google it! Stayed at Poly for $199/night late August. You can't go wrong with this deal. Can also get it for Grand Floridian (or at least you could) for around $250/night. I say go for it! :)

I agree with everyone else that if it has always been your dream to stay at the Poly, that's where you should stay if you can afford it at all. If you are really wanting to watch your money, you might consider Caribbean Beach. Now, yes, I am aware that there is a difference between Polynesian and Caribbean (like, an entire ocean difference) but if you are watching your money, Caribbean Beach could be a way to give you that tropical vibe without spending what you would at Polynesian.

I loved our stay in the Royal Guest Room at Port Orleans Riverside, but for a honeymoon, anniversary, or just couples trip, I'd actually advise against it just because you only have the two queen bed option. It's nice, at the end of a long day, to be able to stretch out in your king bed and still have your spouse stretched out right next to you.

I can't really advise you on Universal, but if you do decide to stay there for 2 nights, have you considered possibly putting that in the middle of your trip? That way, you can do one hotel at Disney that is less expensive, go to Universal, and then enjoy a few nights at the Polynesian. It'd be less expensive than staying there for the whole two weeks and still give you a chance to stay there. You can do a split stay, as you mentioned, but if you are going to go to Universal, why not split up the Disney trip that way? That way, you aren't wasting precious Disney time taking your stuff from one hotel to the next.

I'd stay at the poly and I agree with staying at universal two nights to get the express pass

I have never really looked into Universal before... Hard Rock cool.

Cool, thanks. I will look into.

Too be honest, I have never looked at the Caribbean before. I just looked it up, it does look really tropical. I like that. hmmm this is interesting! :)
