This is the problem. I am going in April. We were planning on staying at WL and the Poly. I was hoping to get AP rates for the rooms. We were going to try and get concierge or at least a really good courtyard view. It looks like people were getting some pretty good deals this last time with AP rates. But I know they are not always guaranteed, especially for the time we are going. We are arriving April 26th, so it will be after Easter and hopefully all of Spring Break will be over. Now I went on Mary's site and they are offering that deal with the Visa. If you book a package with your Disney Visa, one child per adult gets to stay and play for free. So basically you are getting their PHP's for free. What should I do? What do you think would be the better deal? I know generally you should never go with a package, but what is everyone's thoughts? Thanks for your help.

This Disney Visa package only gives you the child UMP's it doesn't discount the room.

Right, I knew there was no discount on the room. But I was wondering if over all this would be better. We are going for 7 days, so I would save around 500.00 on the tickets. But I figured out that if we were to get an AP rate like what is on Mary's site, we would save around 800.00. The only problem is, I have no idea when and IF they rates will ever come out. Do you think I should just hold off and wait for the AP rates? Thanks again.

...you have 2 children under 10 (free UPHs) and you are staying at an AllStar or moderate resort. You have to take a number of factors into consideration.

For the sake of argument, let take use a 6 night/7 day vacation to do our comparisons. For a 6-night stay, you may have only purchased a 5-day PH ($231.11 per adult and $183.18 per child, advance purchase prices). Total cost for a family of 4: $828.58. Cost of 2 adult UPHs + 2 Free Childrens' UPHs for 6 nights:$666.70. Savings:$161.88.

Or let's say that you would have purchased UPHs for the family anyway. The childrens' passes would have cost you $266.25 each. The cost of buying all 4 UPHs would be $1199.20. You save $532.50 on passes.

Now, for the cost of the room. You will pay the rack rate for the room if you go with this package. The rack rate for Value Resorts (standard view) during Regular Season is $99 per night plus 12% tax ($110.88 per night). If you can get an AP rate, that room would go for $69 per night plus tax ($77.28 per night). Difference:$33.66 more per night, or $201.96 for 6 nights.

A moderate normally goes for $144 per night plus 11.5% tax ($160.56 per night or $963.36 for 6 nights). An AP rate would be closer to $110.39 per night with taxes ($662.31 for 6 nights). The difference would be $301.05.

A deluxe (standard view) is $266.49 per night (with taxes, or $1598.91 for 6 nights). With AP discount, $143.83 per night (with tax, $863.01 for 6 nights). The difference: $735.90.

This of course is assuming that AP rate will be available during that time period and that you woud be able to procure one. It also assumes that AP rates would be similar to what they have been historically. And it also does not take into consideration the additional cost of purchasing an AP over the cost of the UPHs, the disadvantage of not having the "pluses" that a UPH provides or the neat pin/lanyard/or lithograph you would get with your package.

My advise is that if you want a guaranteed savings right now, book the package deal. If AP rates come out later and they look better, you can cancel the package and book at the AP rate.

The Dream Maker package gives you the following options IN ADDITION to the room accomodations and ultimate park hoppers...

• Two FREE souvenir Disney trading pins and lanyards per room
• One of the following FREE Choice Features per room: (the one Choice Feature chosen must be used by all Guests in a room at the same time and at the same location)
o One round of miniature golf at Disney's Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course or Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course
o Up to two images displayed on one Leave a Legacy tile at Epcot®
o $25 towards a dining experience at Planet Hollywood

Hope that helps!

I think this is a good deal. It will be 2 adults 2 children ages at time of stay 3&5 @ Pop Century. I got a quote for May 10th -14th for $995.24. Plus I get the $100 Disney dollars. If I booked the Dream maker it would be $1519.30 and if I booked seperately it would be $1229.56 with regular park hoppers or $1337.56 with UPH. So its a good savings for me. Haven't even got my first trip(Oct 18-25th) done yet but already thinking of going again. I havent booked this Disney Visa deal yet. Anyone know if I could book our room then a connecting room with 1 adult and 1 child with this deal.

thank you for the comparisons. That is what I needed, I wasn't aware that I could cancel this package if I chose to do so. I will have to sit down and figure this out. The original plan was for me to get the AP, my husband not being a huge park fan, only wanted a 4 day hopper. He would rather golf or hang out at the pool. For the girls, the youngest is 2, so she will be free. The other two I was only going to get them 6 day PHP, because they really don't know how to swim all that great yet, so the pools will be fine for now. No need for the water parks yet.

By the time the trip comes, I will be so worn out from all this planning, I will need to spend my whole time at the spas!! Is this a bad thing? ;)

Thanks!!
