Help! I have post-magical-trip sadness!

I just got back from the greatest 6 days of my life at Disney World! It was the most magical, perfect trip ever, and it was also my first. My friend and I did two Special Occasion fireworks cruises (for Wishes and IllumiNations) in honor of my birthday. We also ate at 11 wonderful restaurants, 4 of them incredibly fun character meals. We left our hotel every morning at 8 AM and didn't come home until after midnight! I'll be posting a trip report and restaurant reviews soon. Anyway, it was the most fun I ever had in my life, and now I miss the trip so much!! I was also planning it for months beforehand, so it's just such a let-down for it to all be over. Does anyone have any tips on how to cope with post-trip depression? LOL!

It sounds like you have an awesome time at the World! I am excited and anxious to read your reports! :thumbsup2

Ever since our last trip in July up until now when we're almost going back, I look at all of our photo albums from trips every so often to help me get my fix and I've spent every day on here, at least 3 different times a day! You guys are the best!

Oh, there is only one answer to this ~~~start planning the next visit!!!! :teeth:

So glad you had a wonderful time. It is just that, wonderful, isn't it?? Are you hooked??

Can't wait to read your trip report. Will you be doing dining reviews as well??

If you are not able to start planning another trip right away, I suggest planning another sort of Disney-outing (example: going to see Disney on Ice). Set it about a couple of weeks from now so you have something to look forward to. Then after the initial "depression" is over, you can write up your trip reports, enjoy your photos, share with friends, and look forward to your mini-trip!

scrapbook your photos then you can relive it as you put together the book

I sympathise with you and am going through the same thing. Personally I am writing my trip report (you can view it here:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1145882)

that has been fun re-living everything. I'm also mentally preparing our next trip but can't book until next summers rates are out. This is a hard time of year for me every year. We have gone every summer the past 3 years and leaving is always so hard. This year as we left the room my DH put his arm around me and hugged me and said "don't worry - we'll be back".

I totally sympathize with you!. I couldn't even bear to come on this website or listen to any podcasts. The only time I felt better was when I booked my next trip. Looks like you'll have to go back for medical reasons -to cure your PDS (post Disney syndrome)!

Yes, I am suffering from that too. We got back June 15th, and I am still sad after a week! This past trip was the first trip we took with our family staying onsite, and we had a great time. The only thing I can suggest is to start saving up for the next one right away, like I am doing. At least I know the money is started for the next trip even though I am not sure when it will be yet(looking at August 2007, or June 2008). I also took lots of pictures and have been doing my Disney scrapbook. It really helps to fight the blues! It is very hard to come back to reality after being at Disney. Good luck and always know that there will be a next time!!! :cloud9:

I just got back too. I feel your pain. I think I am going to plan a magical gathering though with everyone.

I've been through the same thing and will be going through it again later this year. I saw a great quote the other day that will become my mantra when my trip is over -

Don't cry because it's over - smile because it happened.

We got back a week ago today and I am still dealing with the post Disney blues. We were there for 9 days this time which is the longest we've gotten to stay so you'd think I might have been ready to come hope. Nope. :sad2:

Thanks SO much, you guys! It really helps to know that others are going through "Post-Disney World-Syndrome" too, and I'm not the only one. We can start a PDS support group! LOL!

I'm going to start on all your ideas to overcoming the blues: scrapbooking my photos (as soon as they arrive from PhotoPass and Ofoto) and posting trip reports and reviews. But I also have some potentially good news: After hearing how magical my trip was, my parents are very interested in the idea of planning a family Disney World trip during the week after Thanksgiving. That way we could enjoy all the Christmas festivities and decor without the crowds. I don't know if it's for sure, and my older bro didn't seem too excited about the idea, but I at least have the go-ahead to write up a Trip Proposal. Haha! So I'll get started on that, and that will hopefully help the Post-Disney blues.

Thanks again! I'd love to hear any other ideas you have!

I know this is foolish, but I get melancoly when I get there!!! I swear I get tears in my eyes when my kids do anything :rotfl2: It is so pitiful, to me I want to stop time and remember all the magic and how happy my kids are at that moment. I don't think we will be able to go anywhere else on vacation because I feel like I am robbing my kids of a child hood vacation!
I definatly get the let down when we get home, but I try to get souveniers that I use around the house and like everyone says scrapbook your pics, put them on a slide show as your screen saver, and start planning your next trip!! :cloud9:

Oh, I know what you mean. I suffer the same depression each time. It takes days to go away.

The only relief is knowing there will be the next trip. Even if the next trip is far into the future.

And there will be a next trip.

There must be a next trip.

Take Care.

Oh, I know what you mean! We just got back on Saturday evening. :sad1: My family got fed up with me taking so many pictures on this trip - I have a new digital camera. They just don't understand why I take so many pictures - so that I can relive my trips through all of the pictures. I took 645 this time!!!

now that i am old enough and financially well off enough to go on my own, we are going for the first time with the kids next year. all my previous trips were family vacations with my mom. :( so now...its been nearly 6 years or so, and it feels like forever. theyve closed the Figment ride, changed so many things. i cant wait, but at the same time, its just so miserable not having been for so long. and my wife and kids have never ever been before....

gr...feels like a lifetime away till i can go back lol

Wow! I love your quote. Makes me put things in perspective for sure! I know that there are other people who are not as fortunate as us to be able to go to Disney, so guess we should feel lucky! I will have to post this on my fridge so I don't get sad when I am not at the World. Thanks!!! :sunny:

I agree with everyone else--start planning the next trip. I actually told DH we would "need" to make WDW an annual trip to help relieve post-trip-depression. :goodvibes
