HELP! I have points that are going to expire on 8/31

Just did an add on at Hilton Head for 80 pts. With a use year of September, I have 80 pts that will expire on 8/31. There's no way I can take advantage of a quicky vacation. Hate to see them go to waste any suggestions?

Can you get away for the weekend using Concierge Collection points? Yes, they are can be high, but it would be better than letting them go to waste. How about New York, Mackinac Island, Chicago? You pretty much only have the weekend coming up so I don't even know if that would be possible, but it's worth a try! Good luck!

I would love to help you out since we are headed to WDW next Wed. morning. We are also DVC members but decided to book a cash ressie at the Swan since we are only there for 1 night. Let me know if I can help you out by taking some of your points. There may be a studio or something available that we could book at BWV or one of the other Epcot Resort properties.

Call MS, tell them you just added on, they should allow you to bank the points. If not, we all get a "once in a life time" banking exemption, so you can use that option.

I dont think that there is anyway to book outside a DVC resort MS said that it had to be 60 days in advance. As for the banking of the points I can't bank yet as you have to wait until you close. I think my only choice is to use the points at a DVC resort before the fist of September. I did offer the points to a few friends but I don't think that they will be able to get time off in such sort notice. I'll have to let you know wdw addict if my friends can utilize my points.

If this is a resale and the seller has not used their "once in a lifetime" banking exemption, then request that they bank them for you. We just did that this Spring. Good luck!

It's a add on buy from Disney. I'm sooooo excited I can't wait till next summer to check out Hilton Head on my way back from the Villas of Wilderness Lodge, thought the add on was a great way to add a relaxing beach stay to our trips to Disney.

You are right that the only option is to use them at a DVC resort. Have you talked to Disney about what your options are? Sometimes when they are making a sales they seem to work some magic.

I was going to do the same thing and add on to VB. My rep told me I also had to use the points by Sept 1. I have a Sept use year. She acted like I had no option and might as well buy after Sept 1. Who should I talk to about the banking issue. I really wanted the points for this year. I never heard about being able to bank so late in the use year. I have a reservation for next May and asked if I could use them on it but was told no. Should I get back with her with this info or call member services. I am glad I saw this and thanks for the info.

We did an add on for VWL in May. We also hava a Sept use year. We were able to bank a few (25%), but had to use/sell the rest.

MS and our rep would not budge on this. We did sell them on these boards (all but 2!)

I'm in a similiar situation (but with points that expire Oct. 1 and absolutely no chance to go down there with school having just started). Is there really a once in a lifetime banking exemption????

Maybe you would still have enough time to rent out your points dizeeluvr. I can't bank any points until I close, have you closed? I could have waited until the first of september to buy but I did not want to take the chance of not getting my reservation at HH next summer.

I called member services and used my one time only exception to banking. I bought more point to VB and they are being banked into next year. I did it today and the points will be there tomorrow. Thanks to all who let me know about this benefit. I am going to add on to my OKW trip next May and spend a couple of night at VB. Thanks again.
