Help...I fell off the wagon!

I have been doing to SBD for six days now. I have been very good but it has been very hard for me. I see now I was a carbohydrate addict and realize I was consuming a ton of carbs everyday. I drank regular coke and was up to about 4 or 5 cans a day. I haven't had a sip since last Sunday. I had read that after a few days your cravings subside but mine have been going crazy. I find myself thinking about food constantly. I have been strong and not caved in and have lost about 5 pounds so far. Well I did great all weekend but all day today I have just not felt right. Two of my kids are sick with strep throat, I don't know if I am next or if I just don't feel well because of the withdrawal. So anyway I was packing lunches for tomorrow and for some reason just decided to eat a Twix cookie bar. Let me say it was probably the best thing I ever ate. LOL! Then I proceeded to eat about two handfuls of Fruit Loops before I got a hold of myself and stopped. I feel really bad. Did that undo all the good work I did this week? Do I have to start Phase I all over again? And am I crazy to think I can cut carbs out cold turkey? I am miserable - is this diet thing really worth it? Thanks for letting me whine. Lisa

Whine away Lisa, :sunny:

I do it all the time. First, YES, changing your way of eating IS worth it. You blew it (although not too much), it's over, history, just get back on the wagon.
Yesterday I attended a huge gourmet wedding buffet, I ate like I had never heard of dieting. I then proceded to eat all day long. I just figured I'd messed up, so I might as well enjoy it. (I woke up feeling sick to my stomach)
I'll do fine this week and so will you, just NEVER GIVE UP.
You've really done great -- giving up all the coke drinking, that's no easy thing to do. Congrats on the discipline.

Don't feel too bad. Chalk it up as over and done, and start fresh.
::yes:: You have been doing really well, and you should be proud of your progress.

I fall off my plan once a week! Actually, it's a very controlled fall, and I enjoy it. I am not on SB or Atkins officially, but I am following their theory to a point and avoid carbs most of the time. I also gave up Coke too, which was the hardest part-I really miss the sugar and caffene.

That said, once a week I will splurge on a potato, which I love, or a plate of pasta. This one meal doesn't mess me up, and I watch the portion carefully. I also have just a protien drink for breakfast and a yogurt for the other meal, so my calories are still reasonable. I find the carbs, when eaten slowly fill me up anyway, and interestingly I never completely finish my meal featuring the carbs. And I am able to avoid these foods for the rest of the week, knowing on that one day (usually a Saturday or Sunday) I can have them at one meal. (For this reason I am not on the strict SB or Atkins, but it's working for me as I have lost 1-2lbs a week for the past three weeks.)

Hang in there!:yo-yo:

I have fallen off the wagon many times....at first I beat myself up about, which made it worse because I ate more. You just have to shrug it off and get back on the horse. I know, once you eat one thing, you eat another and then another.....it's easy to fall back into the carbs. Just jump back in where you left off. Today while at MK we ate at Casey's....I love their hotdogs. My intention was to ditch the bun but forgot and didn't relize it until I had it half gone......but I didn't let my little slip up discourage me. I'll just work a little harder tomorrow at the gym and eat my salad tonight before I go to bed.

I'm doing Atkins so I don't know what SBD suggests for cravings. But let me tell you I am a junk food junkie and had very bad cravings, especially since my family has not changed their eating habits, at my request. So all of the junk is readily available to me. But in the Atkins book they suggest a supplement that helps with the cravings.....the book says it is also used for people addicted to alchohol. I picked up a bottle at Wal-Mart for less then $3.00. Let me know and i can get the name for you. I believe it has helped greatly in my cravings.

Stay strong and know that you are human....it happens to the best of us!!!!:grouphug:

It's an amino acid called L-glutamine. It seems to work very well for me. You take 500mg a day with a meal...and they were really cheap!
