Help! I caught RAD last night!

RAD. You know what it is...Resort Anxiety Disorder. The feeling that you "may" have picked the wrong resort...that there's always a better one around the corner. Come on...admit it...I know you've been there!

Anyway, I thought I'd escaped it this time around. What was I thinking?!? It's still 9 months til my trip...I'll be experiencing it MANY times before then! I have booked us at POFQ, but after reading Nolcrest's post and seeing all her pics of the POR Bayou section...well, I think I'm being swayed.

My DH would like to try the POR mansions and my DD4 wants the dragon slide and the room decor of POFQ (she loves those Mardi Gras bedspreads!) I'm being drawn to POR Bayou section with its lush landscaping, footbridges, and singing frogs.

We've never stayed in either of these resorts before, but I must say that I like the compactness of POFQ and the fact that the bus stops there first.

Oh, please help me!! I can't DO this for the next 9 months!

I feel your pain! But if it helps any you can use the pool at POFQ even if you stay at POR.

I get that too and I also am staying at POFQ in March. I let my grandkids pick and I was surprised that the teenagers picked POFQ! I know the 7 year old will like the serpent slide but I think the older kids will prefer PORS. They said, No problem they can always go over there! They liked the way POFQ looked and the fact of the bus stopping there first! I would just stay with your first choice because else you may wish you'd never changed!! You can use both resorts anyway!!

I originally wanted POFQ b/c I think it will be decorated nicely for Christmas, but when I booked it was not avaialble. I got stuck with ASMu (CBR and CS were available, but we have stayed at CBR and don't want to stay at CS). When they changed the BRP I checked again and POFQ was open. I quickly changed my ressie and was excited, until I read all the great things about the POR on the Dis. Now I want to change again, I think. But there are also dissers who love POFQ. what to do, what to do???!!!!

I guess I leave my ressie at POFQ, b/c if I change it again or even mention it I think my DF will strangle me cause POFQ is all I have talked about for months!

I've seen lots of great photos of POFQ. I've stayed at POR and it is HUGE. I think I was as far as you could be from the food court (before Dis so I made no request). I think you'll be very happy with POFQ.

I'm having RAD myself. I'm booked for 9 nights at Poly GVC. The first 2 nights are just me & DD(6) and we'll be joined by a friend and her DD(6). I just got back from ASMo with just my DS and my DD says she wants to stay there those 2 nights. Parts of me would like to save the money but I just don't think either of us would be happy there for this trip. (It was the perfect spot for my whirlwind Aug trip and I probably will return there). For the last 7 nights we are joined by my DH, DS(4), DD(2) and Dfriend. We'd have to get 2 rooms at ASMo so we wouldn't save as much and I can't travel with DH without concierge. But those 2 nights I "could" go ASMo. If we stayed there maybe I could upgrade the other 7 nights to LV? Well my DFriend who is joining us those first 2 nights can't afford the Poly so this is a good chance for her to experience it right? And I just want to unpack when I get there (I'm bringing all the luggage with me). We do drive ourselves crazy don't we? I think I'm going to have my first Lapu Lapu at the Poly when I arrive after all this.

given that we switched resorts (and had a big pile of confirms to prove it) many many times during the planning months, i know exactly how you're feeling... we ended up sticking w/POFQ and do not regret it for a single solitary second! it was the best decision (other than free dining) that we made for our entire trip!

I would stick with POFQ over Riverside but if you really want to be swayed then stay at Coronado Springs it is far better than either PO resorts.

I'm having the same problem, I just booked my trip last week , we are going 9/29, we are staying at the por and I really wanted to stay at the cbr and it wasnt available now it is. But i like the idea to taking the boat to down disney. But i like the theme better at cbr. I dont know what to do. My dh just shakes his head. He thinks im nuts

This is so me! We are planning for next fall with DH, DD 4 and DS 2 (at trip time) DH has never been to Disney and I haven't been since the 80's. I am so neurotic that I made a notebook including but not limited to the relative size of each room, the restaurants and other things such as a formula to calculate the overall project travel miles for each resort given the # of days we plan to spend at each park. DH is so sick of me he just shuts the light out and leaves me here with the laptop. Last night I was up until 2 AM!

Sorry this is so long but I am having terrible RAD, I've been lurking for 2 months and I'm paralyzed by indecision! Any suggestions on where to stay for 2 disney 'virgins' and 2 little ones? I'm all ears!

We're on our way... guess where? Do you guys notice anything... Look at the place... It's empty!! It's like a ghost town here! And that's what makes this place so peaceful... and quiet most of the time!

I LOVE LOVE POFQ!! It is so lovely... very charming!! Very quaint... and so relaxing. Give POFQ a chance. I think you'll enjoy your stay here. But whichever one you pick.. you'll have a wonderful time.

Alspal and Sara - welcome to the Disboards. Fantasia - thanks for the pics. Now I have RAD. Staying at CBR in Nov. (my first Moderate resort) After five times to the World this year from Connecticut, my DVC points are gone for awhile! POFQ looks beautiful and so quiet. I think any onsite resort will be wonderful and I hope that Sara74 gets some sleep tonight!

The best cure for RAD that I've found - plan multiple trips, so you can try all of your choices out!!

What are the most important things to you and your family in a resort? With a small DD, I would think the compactness of POFQ might be a plus, as well as the first stop / first drop on the bus. (BTW - love the pic in your signature!)

I'll be staying POFQ in October, and am really looking forward to it. We plan on strolling over to POR for breakfast at Boatwright's one morning, and check it out for ourselves. I do like the look of the POFQ rooms better than POR (both sides) even though they've both been recently renovated.

Where all have you stayed in the past, and what did you like/not like about each resort? That might help folks give you better, more specific advice.

Yes, the best cure for RAD is to have multiple trips and to do a split stay!! That's how I was... I had a terrible RAD. Then I was tired of my head spinning.. I just decided to do a split.. and sometimes triple split! This took care of RAD. Now I know what my favorites are and I just split between the three!! Polynesian...WL.. and POFQ!!
