Hi,
I am currently going to DL August 15-19th, I currently have a package booked with Disney for Disneyland Hotel, I tried calling to cancel as I had booked the Park Vue Inn for much cheaper. I was going to cancel and then she was trying to convince me to do Paradise Pier or another good neighbor hotel. She suggested Fairfield Inn, the Desert Inn, the Tropicana and the Camelot Inn. I am looking for convenience to walk as I have bad feet. She then proceeds to tell me none of those hotels except Paradise Pier have availibility but when I checked on my own on their websites they had availbility? I told her I would call back I needed to think about it. I would like complimentary breakfast all I am looking really for is cereal, but it's not a must. It's me and my DS15, I am looking for clean, safe, a decent pool. I also looked at the Howard Johnson's and the Candy Cane Inn. My head is spinning, I feel WDW is so much easier to plan since I am so familar with it.

We stayed recently at Park Vue and we loved it. The rooms have recently been updated and are nice. We did a bunk bed room since we have small kids, and those rooms are a little smaller but not bad. The walk was SUPER close. You really can't get much close to the entrance. I'd say it was about 5 minutes to bag check. Breakfast was very good for a standard hotel breakfast. Many choices, including pototatoes that I really liked, two belgian waffle makers (quite necessary since there were lots of people) and you could eat outside on a patio with a view of Disneyland! If I ever figure out how to post pictures I will do a trip report and show the hotel as well.

It's funny that you think WDW is easier to plan...I think whatever you're used to is easiest :) For me, disneyland is super simple. I booked one meal ahead of time (blue bayou) booked our hotel a week out, and bought tickets a few days before. That's it! The idea of prebooking fastpasses terrifies me! But someday we will do WDW and I will for sure need tons of help.

No I understand what you mean Whitney, I guess it's because I am used to WDW, I guess it's what your familar with too and all. Thank you!

If you have bad feet and your main concern is convenience, keep your reservation with Park Vue Inn, you simply can't get any closer. You walk out your door, cross the street and you're at Disneyland! They have a nice little breakfast too, as whitneyebz said.

I love the Candy Cane, but it is about triple the walking distance, however, they do have a shuttle that runs every 30 minutes. They also have a nice breakfast. Howard Johnson is about the same distance as Candy Cane, but they do not have a shuttle or breakfast. I say stop your head from spinning and stay with Park Vue Inn. Hope that helps. :)

I've had only great experiences at Park Vue. Nice, clean rooms, great beds, above and beyond service and the walk is so close. Keep your reservation, you'll be pleased.

Cal-Pie may I ask where do you purchase your park tickets through Disney or elsewhere?

I've never purchased directly from Disney, I've always have found better deals through other sellers. Orbitz w/Ebates, Get Away Today, Last Minute Travel Club & Way.com. Ticket prices tend to depend on which ticket type and how many days you want, as to who has the best price. I haven't found one seller who always has the best price, but all that I've listed are very reputable.

Yep, Disney almost always has the worst price. It is worth checking all of the options, the best deal can vary, even down to the number of days on the ticket (some may have better deals on 3 day hoppers, while others have better deals on 4 day, etc.). I have found I can usually get the best deal booking the room and tickets separately from different sources. Even if this is too much of a hassle, GetAwayToday can book everything for less than going directly to Disney.

Thank you all! I was surprised the Disneyland rep was so poor and I am going to cancel through Disney and get my tickets elsewhere more than likely I will stick with Park Vue! Thank you all for being so awesome and giving me great tips! My head feels better now LOL

I hope everything works out for you. FWIW, Cheaptickets/Orbitz still have the old ticket prices so you might still be able to get them at a lower price (plus if you go through Ebates you can get some cash back).

Candy Cane Inn is a great hotel! It is farther than Park Vue but they do have the shuttle. I stay there every time I go to Disneyland on a longer vacation and have never had a problem with it!
