I was just thinking about SSR this morning. We did a photo session there a few years ago and it just had such a relaxing feel to it. Hope this trip will be great for you!

so sorry this happened - how about getting the annual dues on automatic draft - then you don't have to do anything (besides making sure there is enough money each month in your account)

Since she just said she's in a different country, so that's harder to do. Have to have an account with a US-based bank, and if she doesn't have that already she might need to wait until this trip to set it up.

But don't quote me on any of that other than needing a US based bank.

Good to hear that it all worked out, and I love that you have such a positive attitude about everything. Even though SSR not your first choice, you still sound very upbeat about the whole thing (and I'm sure you guys are going to have a blast). Have a great trip!

wow!! glad it all worked out. I know how life can get out of control sometimes and things get forgotten..somehow I forgot that yesterday was our 7 month window to call to change our resort....oh well. We couldn't get what we wanted so we decided to change our dates.

The problem is that in Disney's eyes, it matters not WHICH contracts are current and which aren't. The membership involves the whole, not pieces. For example: I have 3 contracts...two at OKW and one at AKV. When I look online at my information, it is all listed as one membership with 3 seperate contracts. My dues are based on the whole, not each piece. It clearly states something to that effect in the documents as well.

One good thing is that this is not as busy as the last week of the month would be, so you may have little luck this morning when you call. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you in hopes that you get something.

Be sure to come back and report if you found anything or not. I was once able to get an extra night in a 1 bedroom for Labor Day calling just 24 hours ahead, so there IS hope.

I felt a little panic after reading this and checked my contracts. Mine are clearly listed as 4. My newest add on has the MFs showing, since I just bought it and it was prorated, not due until June. But all four contracts have the dues listed separatly by them, all with 0 total excpet the new one, so I would have also guessed that they were viewed differently. The check is really in the mail for that one..like I said, not due until the end of June.

Somtimes lifes just smacks you in the face and all you can do is pick yourself up, forgive yourself, move on and hope to do better. This vacation may not be exactly as you originally planned it but you will still be with the people you love and you'll be a Disney. Your Mom will love the 2br at SSR, as will you all. BLT and THV will be waiting for you at another time. Enjoy your time together!

FWIW, SSR is a great resort and absolutely gorgeous!! If you want to visit BLT, be sure and attend the Member preview at the Top of the World Lounge several days a week. There is a thread about it here.

Thanks all! We have stayed at SSR in a 2 bedroom before and were very happy, so we are still SO excited and greatful that we have a "home" and a beautiful one at that!

As a Canadian, we cant do monthly payments from a bank account.... so I will just need to set reminders on my calendar to pay the dues, so I never put myself in this situation again!

Can I tell you how much I love Disney? I was on the phone right at 9:00EST and the CM who answered the phone was wonderful. She could obviously tell that I was upset, and immediately calmed me down telling me she would find me SOMETHING. Well that she did. We got a dedicated 2 bedroom at SSR! Is it BLT? NO, but I dont care!!!! It's SSR! I dont mind that! And more importantly, it's DVC... and my kids will never know the crisis that could have been.

She wasnt able (OBVIOUSLY) to re-reserve my treehouse for our Decemeber trip, but I never thought that it would actually be a possibility... chalk that one up to a penalty for my stupidity. She did get us a 2 bedroom lock off at SSR though, and hey... Im not complaining.

Then the sweet CM went a step further and managed to move the points that dropped into "holding" (from our cancellation at such short notice, when our BLT reservation was cancelled) into regular points. There were almost 70 points left over due to the point difference from 2 bedroom lake view BLT to a 2 bedroom at SSR... so that was a wonderful thing for her to do, since we would have been forced to use them within 60 days, and with us living in another Country and at the opposite coast, that just wasnt going to happen.

I am SO happy.

Thank you ALL for the well wishes, pixie dust, fingers crossed and even occasional *** kicking/scolding! I appreciated ALL of it. Now I can go back to planning a magical "First Trip" for my mom... and witness the wonderful-ness of Disneyworld for my children.

That's GREAT news!!! It was actually kind of nice to have those extra points "drop in your lap" too with the new reservation. I'm assuming you could bank those or use them for your December ressie. I also think this was probably a good lesson learned. I have a hunch you are going to have a VERY magical trip!
