We do have guard dog installed on our computer but we got a pornographic email this morning. I scrolled down to click on "remove my name from list" and it immediately connected me to a porno website and then I received a bunch of pop up window things all for porn. I thought with guard dog these things wouldn't get through! Can someone help me? THANK YOU!!!

I always get emails that promise that they can increase my ***male part***. I send them to our network admin... maybe he needs this information :)

Never click on remove me from list, that just validates they have a good e-mail address. AOL 8.0 has a report and block spam button. I wish it was on outlook express. I normally delete every e-mail I dont know who its from. Maybe this AOL lawsuit will help get something done against the spammers--especially the porno crap.

AOL and Earthlink are currently working on some means to curtail all spam....judicially or via legislation.

The worst thing you can ever do is click on a 'remove me from the list'. 4greatboys was absolutely right. When you do that, you signal to them that their mail reached an active address and you will be bombarded with several more messages.

As for the porn spam, they don't care if you've ever been to any porn site. Your address gets passed around and you'll get spam for porn, tires, debt consolidation, scams, etc. You just get all kinds and you just have to ignore and delete all kinds.

Keep using whatever spam blockers you have and any blockers you can use through your ISP. That's about all I can suggest. If anyone can further elucidate, I'd appreciate some more tips.

I have a spam block and about 20 a day still come through.
I forward the message details to my ISP's "missed spam" address, but so far, I'm still getting the same amount coming through :(

If you are getting it in Outlook Express, when you get the email, click on it, then go to Message and choose Block Sender. When the emails come in they will go right to the Deleted files folder and you will have to delete them from there, just right click on the folder and choose to empty the folder. This is basically a short term issue. Also if you have earthlink email, use the Spaminator. It helps

Blocking the sender doesn't help very much because spammers changes their email addresses quite frequently.

In Outlook Express you can have it send messages to the "Deleted Items" folder if they have particular words in the subject line or message text itself. This is more helpful than blocking the sender, but still doesn't "catch" it all. Also, you'll probably need to tell your friends not to send you messages about the "sex of the baby" as they'll be deleted, too. (That's why I always close the preview pane & check who sent the stuff in my deleted items before blasting away.)

If you want to try it, go to Tools-Message Rules-Mail and define a new rule. Make sure it has "OR" highlighted in blue, not "AND" or you can't use multiple words.

This is the bain of my network administrator's existence. We brought our internet email inhouse a couple months ago so we could control our own spam-destiny. We're a bank and all you need is for someone to be in the lobby when you open a shocking email.

We have had the most success in blocking spam from the DNS address from which it is sent... but you need the right software to do this from. We use Gwava. There is no 100% way to block this junk that we can find. I am hoping that AOL can put an end to spammers through its lawsuit, too.

Remember, if you are trying to block spam through the browser's methods of listing keywords, they won't pick up on html (graphic) code in the body of the message and instead of writing "sex" in the message or subject, they'll write S.E.X, or $ex, etc., so your home-grown blocker won't block them after all.

I have downloaded mailwasher. When you receive any e.mails you do not want you can bounce them back to the sender. :bounce: :smooth: :Pinkbounc

If you use Outlook Express you need to set up message rules. You can set it up to block emails with certain words, addresses, etc...so that they are deleted or do not download from the server.
