staying at all star movies and I can't figure out how to disable the sensor on the thermostat like I have at other resorts. Can someone please help ASAP? :)

Thank you!

Some folks may not like the noise they make or how it could blow cooler air in one particular place whereas a lower over all temperature would be more comfortable especially when you have little ones staying in the rooms.

Boy do I get the noise thing, not at a WDW resort but at other economical/cheap motels. There is one trip we took to WDW, in August and I wished that there was a winter setting to the thermostat. Summer vacation in Florida, never again.

I'm really curious, why would you want to disable the thermostat? o_O Truly just curious!

The instructions are intended to disable the sensor which "senses" movement and moderates the temperature accordingly. So if the sensor thinks the room is empty, due to lack of movement, the unit will not run as often which means it can get much hotter, especially at night .

We had to do this at CSR one year. We came back to a HOT room in September.

Ah figured it out

  • Hold down the “display” button
  • While holding that button, press “off”
  • Release off, continue to hold down display, and Press the “up” arrow button
  • Release all buttons

I know this is a resurrected thread, but thank you for posting the answer to your own question:upsidedow. I've put your directions in my phone's "notes" for quick reference.

I'm going to do this exact thing first moment in the room.

Same here. While not all the resorts have this thermostat, one (BC) in my upcoming three-way split does, so I'm ready to censor the sensor:badpc: (pretend that's the thermostat).

Well, just saw that someone reported that in fact the sensor by-pass method above doesn't work at BC. UGH:faint:. Has anyone actually successfully used the method above at BC?

Since the renovation they changed the Thermostats. I have not seen a successful procedure for the new ones other than asking the Front Desk to send a maintenance person to stop by and bypass the sensor. That works 100% of the time. :thumbsup2

Thank you, @dansdad, 100% works for me:). I think I will do that before I even get into the room while I'm checking-in downstairs!

Are you staying at BC, Kook? :scratchin

Sorry to go :offtopic: here, my apologies.

Hard to believe, but yes. It's the only Deluxe I've never tried and I thought this would be a good way to mark it off the list since I'm traveling solo (a first). I have a "trip of firsts" next month and I'm doing a 3-way split of Tower Club, BC and RPC, which I've not done before. It's DD's graduation present to myself:laughing:

Awwww, that's great!!! The new rooms at BC look awesome. I think that sounds like an amazing trip!!! :thumbsup2

Has anyone successfully used this bypass anywhere on property within the past year or so?

We've stayed in a few resorts where they had disabled the bypass, due to guests disabling the sensor. At Wilderness Lodge last year, they offered to give us a balloon. Classy.

I thought the balloon trick didn't work anymore?

But I have to say I don't blame them for having some sort of sensor. There should be a way to keep the air running at night, but it is ridiculous to keep your room on deep freeze when you are in the parks.

That's what I thought too about the balloons! I was like what? I have no idea. I didn't take one because I had the front desk call engineering to request an override of the sensor. Then engineering said since we were staying in the Villas it didn't matter because they don't have the sensors anyway. Which was true.

I don't mind the sensors at all when you are out either. But at night it's unacceptable.

Maybe there are different types of sensors. On another trip, they tried to tell me that the sensor senses body heat, not motion, therefore falling asleep wouldn't make a difference. Except it did. Then they told me that the sensor must not be angled properly. (This was at a Disney resort) Who knows. I miss the good old days when hotels didn't have these and they seem to be everywhere now, not just Disney
