Help! Hotel lost and found advice

We just got back yesterday from a stay at Red Lion. I realized, to my horror last night, that we left behind my daughter's very, very favorite stuffed bunny, and also a plush minnie mouse we bought in the park. I called Red Lion and was transferred to their Lost and Found voicemail. I left my info, and waited. Today I called the front desk and was told the person I needed to talk to was in her office, and was transferred. She didn't answer, so I got kicked back to the front desk, and the girl took my information down and said she would give it to the right person.

I haven't heard from them, but it's really hard to not freak out when I have a heartbroken 5 year old. I know they are a busy hotel, and I am trying to be as nice and polite to them as possible. I know it is our fault we left behind items, I'm not blaming them, but I just wish I could speak to someone, even to hear someone say "we are looking for you", just SOMETHING. Something, so I can tell my poor daughter something.

Does anyone have any tips? I don't want to keep calling them and bugging them and annoy them and in turn make this worse for my situation, but it's so hard knowing my daughter's favorite item is lost and we know nothing.

Also, does anyone have any experience with leaving something behind at a hotel and actually getting it back?

Your situation is not at all uncommon. Sometimes the lost and found is handled by the front desk sometimes by a lost and found manger.

I think what you have done is fine. Try calling agian tomorrow and see if you can get the name of who you should speak to there.

I'm afraid I can't give you any new info., but I wanted to try and give you some positive things to think about.

As skiingfast said, this is not uncommon. The people staying at these hotels are usually there to be at the parks. This also means they might have children of their own, and would certainly see this bunny and know that it must have been left behind and empathize with you. Now, they might keep Minnie Mouse since she is new, but I'm sure you would rather replace Minnie and get the bunny back verses getting neither back.

If I was a parent who found these things, I would turn them in without hesitation. Most likely the housekeeper found them, and I would like to think that they have no interest in a well loved bunny:cloud9: and would return it. They are used to finding all kinds of things.

Your DD bunny could be sitting safely in the office right now, and the message just needs to get to the right person! I will be sending :goodvibes your way!

Thank you so much for your kind words, and for making me feel better. I'm going to (try) to be patient and wait and see if maybe whoever needs to contact us, just isn't in over the weekend. It's just hard to see my poor 5 year old cry at night because Bunny isn't in her bed with her.

So..as an emergency just in case thing... do you have any idea what kind of bunny? Can you replace it??

I have to admit that is my biggest fear on a Disney trip ( or any other vacation for that matter ) - having one of my 3 kids leave behind a loved stuffy. I hope your current situation ends on a good note

I really hope they find your little ones stuffed bunny. My boys each have a very favorite stuffed animal that would cause tragidy in my household also if lost. Once when my oldest was 4 we lost his pooh bear. Oh my goodness! We searched the hotel walkways in the middle of the night thinking that it had fallen out of the side of his backpack during check in. We didnt find it that night and needless to say we had a very upset little boy. Luckly for us it ended up showing up at my moms house! It was unknowingly taken out of the backpack by a cousin and was found the next day.

I am sending good vibes your way in hopes that they find it! :goodvibes

I hope the hotel finds your child's stuffed bunny..That is horrible. Same thing kinda happend last month to me. I had a gift card with about 30$ on it. I noticed it was missing 30 minutes after heading home. I called the Doubletree and was transferred to lost and found. No answer so i left a message..I left 3 or 4 messages with them and never heard anything back. I told them my name my number and what room i was in and w here i left the gift card. Not sure why noone would even respond, even with a "sorry we couldn't find it." I gave up.

I'm hoping your situation isn't like my ending. MIne was only a gift card, but yours is a treasure. I hope you get it back :]
