help! horrible earache

Help! Anybody have suggestions for easing the pain of earaches? I've had one on and off last night and all day today. It is killing me! I've been taking Tylenol every 4-5 hours and putting a warm washcloth on my ear, but it still hurts bad! Can't wait to go to the dr in the morning, hopefully he can do something to end this pain. Both my ears are plugged up also so I can't hear that well. It's been a fun weekend.

I find that Ibuprofin works better than tylenol. There are over the counter drops for pain so you may want to check at the parmacy. Sorry you are hurting.

My mom always warmed some vegetable or olive oil JUST A LITTLE BIT and put a couple of drops in our ears when we got ear aches. That always helped!

Do you have any decongestant? That can often relieve the pressure. Also - I know it is old fashioned remedy, but my Mom always put a drop or two of sweet oil in my ear. She warmed the bottle by rubbing it in between her hands. It always worked for me and has worked for my kids as well. It just isn't one of those things most people have on hand.

I agree with Alex. Ibuprofen works better for me!

My mother put warm oil in my ear and gave me a heating pad. It helped a lot but didn't get rid of the earache. It made it bearable enough so that I could sleep, though.

Yep, ITA with ibuprofin and a decongestant like sudafed. It may also help to sleep at a 30 degree angle tonight to avoid the extra ear pressure in a flat lying position. I get these and it causes dizzyness sometimes for weeks. Good Luck!

Pouring Mineral Oil in your ear is supposed to work like a charm!

I also had one earlier in Oct, and I put in a few drops of peroxide in my ear and held my head sideways for about 10 minutes.. I also used those syringe (I called them 'booger squeezers' that babies use for snot...LOL) and washed it out with water alot..to get out any excess wax.
My doctor also recommended a specific stool softner (forgot the name) but said to but it in your ear (obviously not for it's original purpose)... but I never needed to get it.

Boy, do I feel your pain! Both my boys have had double ear infections over the past couple of weeks & they've now passed it on to me.

OMG, I forgot how much ear aches hurt! I feel horrible knowing my babies have been fighting them.

I used some of the benzocaine drops they gave my DS & they didn't do squat! Tylenol helped a little bit.

I'm awaiting a call back from my dr now.
