First off let me say welcome to DIS! I'm going to suggest you read through Deb Will's wonderful site. She has so many tips and information that you'll definitely want to take advantage of.. www.allearsnet.com The first thing I would do is sit down and determine what day you'll be doing which park. In my opinion AK and MGM can be done in one day...AK in the morning and MGM in the afternoon/evening. With the ages of your children you definitely want time in MK, but at the same time you'll want plenty of time in Epcot. After you have determined which park you'll be in on which day then figure out where you want to eat for sit down restaurants. You'll need to make ADR's for sit down meals. Deb's site also has menu's for each restaurant. When calling for ressies don't get disappointed or upset if a lot of restaurants are booked. Cancellations happen all the time. So, just keep calling. :)

With only four days, it's gonna be a tight schedule. It all depends on what the kids like. If the girl likes the princesses, I'd plan to visit them. Ariels Grotto, possibly story time with Belle and definitely cinderellabration. Boys aren't my strong point, but Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and Stitch's Great Escape would make the list. And That's just the Magic Kingdom. At EPCOT, considering the ages of the kids, I'd stick with future world because World Showcase is a lot of walking. Even so, WS has awesome character opportunities. Make sure to see the parades (There's usually a schedule by the Park Entrance). The Studio's Stunt Shows (Indiana Jones and Lights, Motors, Action) are great spots to sit and rest, but to be entertained at the same time. The Animal Kingdom caters well to both. It's Tough to be a Bug, Kilamanjaro Safaris, Kali River Rapids and Rafiki's Planet Watch would make the top of my AK list. I'd also concur with the book and I'd take and hour to an hour and a half in the afternoon time to go back to the hotel and rest, that way, the kids will have some more energy for late night fireworks. You should definitely try for Spectromagic (the nighttime parade at the MK), as well. Illuminations is worth seeing, though you have to line up early to get a spot where the kids can see. It's also tough getting out of the WS when that ends. Don't forget Fantasmic at The Studios. That's a must-see for me, and I think even more so with kids.

That's my advice. Hope you have an awesome trip!

I would recommend that you do yoru research first. I mean read, read and read. This board is a fantastic source of information.
Our first trip to Disney was not so great because we were not organized and had no idea what to see and when - of course this was before the Net.
Today, each trip of ours is fantastic. Determine the # of days you are travelling and plan a day to day itinerary. For example, if on Day 2 the parks close late at MK - then you may want to make that a MK day. You have to determine if you want to be at the parks everyday and what are your must sees. You will not see everything in one trip but you can pick some highlights.
For MGM - I recommend the Lights, Motor Show, the parade and Fantasmic. I really loved the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom too. The parades at all parks are amazing including SpectroMagic. Also, don't forget Downtown Disney for shopping, nightlife and food...
Feel free to PM me with any questions!

I would suggest either Tour Guide Mike (sponsor of the boards) or the Unofficial Guide. Both of these resources have WWWAAAAYYYYY too much info for the amount of time you have to plan.

Tour Guide Mike has an "express" planner which is helpful. If you go with the Unofficial Guide, study the touring plans and find the one(s) that fit you the best. The best thing you can do is arm yourself with a good touring plan that hits the main things you all want to do...and NO you can not do everything! In four days you will not be able to ride/see all attractions. So get one of the resources above, pick your "must dos" and plan accordingly.

Oh, I almost forgot...have a GREAT time!!!! :Pinkbounc

I've never used it but it may be worth it to try Tour Guide Mike, being that you have no plans yet, and are there for a shorter visit. I agree with Torontogal, read read read. Happy Planning! The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World is packed ith information. I'd definitely get a Park Hopper ticket if I were you.
