Okay I should not do things at night. :)

I finally got my iron on centered on my shirt and was so anxious I put my iron straight on it! No parchment paper on top! So does anyone know how to get that stuff off my iron! I so want to make shirts but cannot afford to get another iron.

SO STUPID!!!!:guilty:

Hi! I hope this helps some- now that your iron is off- right? & cooled- you should be able to pull away most of any "plastic" that is stuck to it- after you pick as much off as you can- take a paper bag and pour salt on top of it- about 1/4 cup or so- turn your iron on warm and "iron" over top of the salt- have a damp cloth to wipe away residue every few runs over the salt- gently as a damp cloth will retain heat- and of course make sure your iron is on warm and not full blast heat- depending on how much "stuff" is on your iron it should help- if it doesn't get everything off, there is a cream sold usually in the irons department at most major retailers- that will clean the iron- if your iron base is enamel you can also use the same cream used for flat top stoves- sold at Lowe's, Home Depot, and sometimes Wal-Mart-

Good Luck!

Last night I found a site that said to run my hot iron over newspaper. It mostly worked except it left a thin layer on it. So I tried the salt thing you suggested this morning and it didn't work. Probably would have if I had waited. When it cools down I will try baking soda or vinegar as those were other things mentioned to clean an iron. It is a Rowenta so a very nice iron and I woudl hate to lose it. Plus we leave in 3 weeks and I want to get my shirts done. ;)

THANK YOU Moeluv4u7.

Yikes! Those are expensive irons. I do wish you luck!!! Sorry I wasn't any help.

Well I got most of it off, after the newspaper I used a lot of baking soda and scrubbed and scrubbed.

I made four shirts last night and since it uses the parchment paper it didn't get on the transfer at all. The shirts look so cute.

Thanks for trying to help! I am sure I won't be the last one to have this problem so maybe the tips will help others.
