the deposit was paid but before it was paid in full?

I'm terrified because I booked my first package today. Then tonight I see my reservation online, click on 'terms' and it says that the rates are subject to change until the package is paid in full'! When I called the CM hemmed and hawed and said "oh, I've never seen it happen," but I want to ask people who are experienced with these packages. Have you ever had the rates change before you paid it in full? If so, by how much?

I'm regretting that I went after the 'free dining' carrot if I have to worry about the rates changing for the next 3 months while we pay it off :(

Thanks for any experiences you can share. . .

The only thing I have heard of people haveing to pay after the deposit was if the Taxes changed . Disney has no real control of that and will not absorb the cost.

Other then that as long as you are paid on time you should be fine.

thank you! She explained to me about the time the taxes went up a little (that is not the type of miniscule rate hike that worries me) I guess i'm just having disaster scenerios play in my head that we're almost paid off and the package rate would go way up.

The CM said of course she couldn't put it in writing that the prices would definitely certainly not go up- but that it would be very bad business if Disney was in the habit of changing on people after they started paying, which makes sense of course. I guess the 'free dining' thing just has me worried, cause mom always taught me there's no such thing as a free lunch *lol*...

I want to pay in full now but my husband does not share my terror-or my desire to do so. I don't know what to do I don't want to stress for the next 3 months.

Anyone else have experience booking and paying in parts for packages and everything was fine??? Please give me hope LOL

thx!

They will not raise your room rate that you booked, they can only change the amt of tax that is charged. Don't worry.

I've done this twice in the past, where I took 5 months before I paid off the balance and I've not had any change.

Last year when the ticket prices went up, we didn't have to pay the difference even though my package wasn't paid in full yet. I wouldn't worry about it.

And about the no such thing as a free lunch......the first time we did free dining my husband was very skeptical....I kept tellling him: this is disney honey!! they won't go back on what they advertized! but he still worried. It wasn't until we had our first meal (at Le Cellier no less) and we gave them our card and signed the reciept that he finally said: that's it??? really??:lmao:

You should have seen him melt!! After that he let loose and had a great time!:cool1: we've been doing free dining ever since! this makes our third year!!

I put a deposit on my upcoming trip 11 months before we're scheduled to leave. My price has remained the same from June '06 until April '07.

Same experience. Put a deposit down, then paid off about 60 days out. No increases. And our package cost us $868 and we ate $550 in free food. There is such a thing as a free lunch, a free dinner and a free snack!

Highly unlikely they would do this to you.

Thank you everyone, I feel so much better now. I don't know what I'd do without you guys!!! Probably drive my husband totally over the edge :lmao:

thanks again!

I agree with the previous posters, tax increases is the only increase Disney won't absorb.

Some guests book for the next year, before the rates have been released. Disney doesn't absorb those increases but guests who book understand they're not locking in a rate.

We booked last year before the rates went up for this year and Disney has still continued to honor our price from last year for August of this year, as they should.
