HELP: Going July 2 thru 10 ANY GOOD TIPS

Best tip to everyone going during a busy time is to get to every park before opening (EMH or regular hours). You can get a lot done in a few hours at all the parks before the really big crowds arrive later in the morning. Also be prepared to park hop in case the park you are in gets really crowded.
Finally, everyone must drink plenty of water in the Florida heat! Also take a resort break during the hottest part of the day.
ps....Don't forget your sunscreen!

1.drink water-its not fun fainting at the entrance to the MK
2.take afternoon breaks at the pool or napping-great to cool down
3.bring a poncho-when we were there it rained every almost every afternoon

Just realize that the parks are going to be very, very crowded. Take it slow, now's not the time to try "commando Disney"

My one piece of advice- either buy Tour Guide Mike or the Unofficial Guide for touring plans. I have used both during less crowded times of the year and they helped me even then. Out of the two I'd go for Tour Guide Mike- look up his name on some posts for how people feel about his touring plans! Good luck and have a great time!

I wouldn't go to MK on July 4. We went on July 3 last year and saw the 4th of July fireworks then. They were beautiful. I believe they closed Mk last year on the 4th because of crowds. Other than that, we found the crowds manageable. We used early morning entry when we could. Got a lot done. We tried 1 late night hour and MK was so crowded that we left. We had a great time. I am sure you will too. Oh...USE FAST PASS!!!! We got a TON done in our 9 days (July 1-9).

Hi  We'll be there the same week!!! :cool1:

This is our 3rd trip for July 4th week & we wouldn't have it any other way! :sunny: Yep - the crowds are INSANE & they DID close MK on July 4th last year because of attendance :crowded: but..... the parks are open longer that week so you have more time to make up for some of the extra folks.

Everyone here has given very good advice - these are all the things we do. :thumbsup2 We stay on property & make use of the Disney Transportation system - especially for mid-day breaks. We ALWAYS go back to the resort to rest/swim between lunch & dinner.

Make a note of which park has morning/evening EMHs & get there early! You want to beat :sunny: & :crowded: .....

Where are you staying???

I am staying at Caribbean Beach for the 6 nights then to POP century for the last nights.

What were the wait lines about on some of the more popuular attractions

see u there :cool1:

Hmm well I will state again go early go early go early. We were able to walk onto the popular rides- (soarin took 5 minues) MS no wait. And we got fast pass for test track. Use fast pass wisely- getting one and realizing that there is a time limit as to when you can obtain another one- But one BIG thing that helped us was that once your time passes on the fast pass you can use it at any time. So in other words- if you have a pass that is good from 1-2PM you can go on the fast pass line anytime after 1PM. This comes in handy when you have several fast passes in a row in a particular area- no waiting.... We did this on Pooh, and Peter Pan. As an example Peter Pan(slow loading ride) had about a 90 minute wait most of the time we were there. The longest we saw was for Soarin and that was over 2 hours on standby line. So I repeat go early and take a mid-day break. The times that it got too crowded we just left. Went back to the hotel for a pool break. And yes drink lots of water. Bring sunscreen and body glide!

WOW
I never heard about using your fast pass after the time

So i just Give it to the person standing there and they will let us in :confused3

I'm suscribing to your thread because my family is also going July 2/July 7-----So I'd like in on some insider advice!!!

We'll be there at the same time! Staying at BCV July 2-9, followed by our first Disney Cruise July 9-13. Celebrating our 25th anniversary. :cool1:

We're planning to do spend a lot of time at Stormalong Bay on July 4th and then head to Epcot that evening. Staying away from MK on the 4th.

My best advice is to enjoy yourself! No matter how crowded or hot it gets, remember you are on vacation! If you find yourself getting frustrated or too hot, go back to your hotel, take a nap or swim! Don't let the crowds ruin your vacation!

My best advice is to always have a Fast Pass in your hand. Have the FPs for the next attraction in hand when you use the current one.

Next advice would be to hydrate profusely. I suspect you will need it.

Although we have never tried this, I have read numerous posts that you can use your FP after the time posted. So if you have a FP with a window of 1pm to 2pm you can use it at 8pm. I must add that this is likely up to the Cast Member checking the Fast Passes. My guess is that most would let you through. However you may come across one that is strictly "by the book" and not be allowed in. It's probably worth a try if you go past your window.

Have you thought about signing up for any of the tours? My hubby and i just did the Segway tour - it was a blast! We took the 2nd one - from 9:30 - 11:30. (one hour training in the building at Epcot - second hour driving around the countries (1/2 hour before parks open) 2nd half hour while park is open. We had our picture taken with a group of characters that were heading to the opening gate of Epcot. Not sure how to upload the picure here - but it is my favorite picture with characters (so far!)
We've also taken some of the other tours at Epcot. Recommend them all highly - we have had great tour guides.

We were always allowed to use our FastPasses even after their stated times, too. Not a problem once.

Another bit of advice I have is that if you have some in your party who don't want to ride certain rides, but others in your party REALLY want to do those rides, go ahead and get FastPasses for the entire group. I don't do roller coasters, and my mom sometimes did and sometimes didn't, but my daughter and dad really loved them -- so a lot of times we'd get fastpasses for the entire family but then I'd chicken out and they'd go twice, using the FPs, while mom and I took my toddler on something more our speed or just gave him a rest break.

Alternatively, you could split them up -- ie, get FastPasses with part of the group's tickets for one coaster, and then FastPasses for another coaster with the remaining tickets, and then the thrill ride nuts could ride 2 coasters while the rest of the party did something tamer.

In general, I found that relatively few of the rides I really enjoyed required FP's, so I was quite often happy to let other members of my family use my FP's.

Finally, if you don't use all of your FP's, don't let them just go to waste -- you can always pass them along to someone waiting in the regular line. We looked for families with small children that looked like they were getting worn out. Passing along the Disney magic is a great way to make someone's day -- and yours :)

Other tips: have each person carry a water bottle on a strap or in a beltpack, or maybe have a group backpack (which you take turns carrying) with water bottles in it. Keeping hydrated is essential. Take along ponchos, too, because afternoon showers are to be expected, and you can always use them on wet rides as well. If nothing else, you can wrap your shoes in them so you're not walking around in squishy shoes after the ride :)

Finally, lots of people recommend a break in the middle of the day, but if you're hot and tired but don't really want to leave yet, try to find a nice air-conditioned show and then grab a snack before or after it. It can really go a long way toward rejuvenating you!
