We are looking to do an add on of 125 points and my DH would love to own at VWL. I on the other hand would love to add more points to our AKV or own at BWV. My DH is such a loving and caring man. He keeps telling me he doesn't care where we stay, just as long as we are together. I would REALLY love to do for him, but my fear is snakes. Yes I do know they are everywhere in WDW, but I am afraid they are more in the VWL because of all the trees.

For the VWL owners, can you please tell me why you love this resort or why you do not. I know I need to get over my fear, but hoping a lot of good reasons will outweigh it.

Thank you everyone for any help or advice

I personally have never seen a snake there. My parents have stayed on the hotel side 13+ times and it is their fav at WDW. They stayed in a VWL studio in Feb. this year for the first time and asked me to add on some more DVC points for them to use, which I did. ;)

I LOVE the themeing: breathtaking lobbies, springs & pool, wood everywhere, rocking chairs, fireplaces, cool carpets, Mickey shaped ironwork in the hallway's corners at the ceiling, etc.) and enjoy the boat transportation option to ahve some variety vs. 'bus only'. I think having a wide, covered walkway to get to the busses and food is WONDERFUL; GREAT for Florida rainstorms! My parents like the woods because they are avid runners and love seeing the deer and other wildlife in the trees, plus all the shaded paths they provide. No matter where I am staying (even the [ewww] two recent times I was off-property in the past 16 years) I still visited and ate at Whispering Canyon because it's a fav. DW & I have an artist's rendering of WL hanging on our living room wall that we purchased at the WL Merchantile on our honeymoon... We were lucky enough to make our first on on regular points in a studio @ VWL, despite it not being one of our home resorts yet.

I'm sure I could come up with more... The ONLY downside is it's our most expensive contract per point; fewer years and higher dues than the other 3. BUT, we like it too much for that to override the desire to own a piece of it. :thumbsup2

Do you have nay other specific questions?

Hope that helps at any rate. :goodvibes

VWL and AKV are our 2 favorite resorts. I own at AKV, but will add on at VWL just to be able to book at the 11mos window for the month of Dec, otherwise points are points. It doesn't sound like you've stayed at VWL yet, I suggest you try it before buying there.

At WL, mostly you see geckos and bunnies. The only times I've ever seen snakes at disney are at EPCOT and SSR. They don't like to be near humans, and the shrubs helps them to stay away from us.

Thank you so much. I think I will add on at VWL. I would love to have my husband own at his favorite resort. We are staying there in a few short weeks. It sounds like it is a beautiful resort and wonderful for Christmas also.

It is amazing at Christmas; we spent a fair amount of time visiting in December (we stayed at BLT that trip, just a quick boat ride away... I list that as a plus for BLT: Easy transportation to WL!!! :rotfl:)

you only have to avoid the trail between FW and VWL at night.

otherwise also have never seem a snake at VWL/wl.

We own at VWL and BWV. We owned VWL first, and when we wanted a second resort we wanted to have a change of pace in home resorts. We find that our BWV vacations are substantially different than our VWL ones. VWL is our first love, but since we go every year we wanted to have something very different from VWL for our second home resort. And BWV is a great resort too.

WL & AK were designed by the same architect and both have heavy thematic elements.

I think I will add on at VWL. I would love to have my husband own at his favorite resort.

This is a key sentence. If your husband likes VWL the best (and I can certainly understand that) then you will probably want to buy there. It is great at any time but during the Christmas season it is just beautifully decorated. You really can't go wrong but if that's the favorite, then that's where you should buy.

I love VWL, but I must tell you that my DSis had a frog in the tub once when she stayed in a studio and we had a frog in our bedroom of a 2 bedroom villa. We've not had any creatures inside the villa at any of the other resorts. The most snakes that I've seen have been at the BCV, all outside.

I really want to thank you all for your posts. :worship: You have all made this very easy and something I can not wait to do for my DH. I really appreciate your help

Hello  VWL lover here.

I see my fellow Groupies have given lots of great info. Grab yourself our Moosie and come sit on the porch with us!

PS We have lots of guy Groupies on that thread, I'll bet you might be able to talk you husband into joining our thread!:goodvibes

It sounds like you've made up your mind but let me just say that I could live there:yay:. It is truly my fav:cloud9: and I can't imagine going anywhere else for my annual after Thanksgiving/early December Christmas trip. I love the theming and the warm coziness I feel when I enter the lobby. Good Luck!

One more voice to add to the chorus: VWL is perhaps the quietest resort on property, and after spending all day with tens of thousands of my closest friends in the parks, I love coming back to tranquility.

I've never seen a snake there, but on my numerous runs along the trails to FW, I have seen deer, hawks (sitting on the ground, prey in talons), rabbits, and other nice critters. Among other things I enjoy about VWL are the lobby music, the flickering lamps, the ability to sit on the beach at night, the comparative quiet at the pool and hot tub, and very importantly, Artist Point--my fave restaurant at WDW.

I think you're making the right choice. ;)
