Help from Dissers

I am heading to the Rockies next weekend and am wondering if there is anyone out there from the Canadian Rockies (Banff-Jasper then on to Vancouver) who could advise what possibly i might need that everyone else forgets? I am staying in hotels, have bug cream, good technical clothing, decent footwear but there is always something to forget.....any help appreciated

Polar fleece, sunglasses, water bottle and a hat (regular and a toque). Their is still a considerable amount of snow here and the snow glare is brutal; sunglasses are a must. Higher altitudes can be windy so a toque is always necessary as are warm gloves and a polar fleece jacket layered under a good jacket or parka. Temperatures and weather conditions can change suddenly. Chapstick, water bottle and a good day pack. It is very dry here. Here are a couple pics I took to getcha in the mood! Have fun!

Sunscreen (for your face) and your bathing suit (for the hotsprings!).

Bring a good moisturizer; you won't really understand the thin, cool, dry air until you're in it! Actually, don't worry too much about "forgetting" to bring things. You're not trekking into desolate wilderness; everything you could want or need will be available for purchase along the way. I imagine you're flying into Calgary wave: wave as you go by!) and out of Vancouver, which are two of the largest cities in the country - very metropolitan. You'll lack for nothing.

BTW, we've just had 10 days of horrible weather (-18 with windchill and +/-12 cm of snow); we call it "Spring into Winter!" . Next week is supposed to be better but the weather is pretty "iffy" around here between November and July...

I have sunscreen, high protection too. I have a decent pair of Oakleys bought in good old Universal Studios. Plenty of layering as i do alot of winter hiking here. I tend to wear beanie hats which lookiing at wikipedia is the same as a toque, got a new seal skinz one the other week which is wind and water proof.

I am a little lost on what sort of level we can walk at and what trails may be open. I am sort of waking up to the fact we will have to take it easy and not go too far. I will have to get into the tourist offices on our arrival, not much is open in May, but the bars are though!!

Another thing to think about - once you get West of the Rockies onto the Pacific Coast it's RAIN, not snow you'll have to contend with. You're probably much more familiar with that. Don't forget your 'brolly and a pair of wellies!
