Anyone who works in a bridal salon that is a Paloma Blanca authorized retailer, please help!!! I called a local one and since my wedding was so far out they weren't interested in helping me until I booked an appointment.:sad2:

I was inspired to ask this by PrincessLinds, who works in a bridal salon...

I have a question on the Paloma Blanca dresses... I've only seen a few colors of the sashes (like gray and light coffee colored) for the two dresses I love- 3701 and especially 3801. Now I haven't tried either of them on or seen them in person, but I LOVE the lace on 3801... As pictured it sort of has this gray sash/cumberbund thing around the waist. I was wondering if anyone might know if it comes in different colors and if so what ones. I'm hoping for a burnt orange, but if that won't work I saw this Paloma Blanca dress with this pinkish-peachish orange sash (looks like it might be made out of some sort of tissue taffetta because it sort of changes colors (looks more pink or more orange) in different light) I think would work just as well as a darker orange...

This is the Paloma Blanca dress I saw:

Could anyone help me and let me know what you think the availability is for the different colors? Could you maybe even tell me what colors you think the Paloma Blanca sashes come in? Our colors are white with accents of green (we're having a Simply Chic Couture Collection ceremony and reception) with accents of burnt orange in our flowers and other accessories. I figured it would be best to ask someone who works in a bridal salon first hand... and after my experience from a local bridal salon, I thought DISboards would be the way to go!!!

THANKS!!!!!!!! :goodvibes

bumping my own post since it's after 5pm East Coast time and I'm hoping people will start getting out of work soon ;)

Yep, I'm a dork... but a hopeful one at that... maybe someone will have an answer (and not be as mean as the people who obviously just wanted to get me off the phone!)

I don't have an answer for you, but I will say that that really bites they were like that to you! They should have helped you regardless.

Seriously! Now I know where I definitely WON'T be getting my wedding gown! Not cool at all!!!

I've heard some brides have been in similar situations when it comes to asking questions and wanting to try on dresses if their wedding was so far away because salons did not want to waste their time on clients that weren't serious about buying right away. But this was a silly question over the phone!

Oh well!

You could always just make an appointment. Most of the bridal salons I went too were by appointment only. I agree that the people you spoke with weren't very nice so maybe you can make an appointment at another salon that carries Paloma Blanca gowns.

Courtney I think it is ridiculous they wouldnt help. I just callled Serendipity Bridal in Austin. She is going to call Paloma Blanca personally tomarrow and see if they can get that with a burnt orange sash and she is also going to ask which other gowns can have that color sash. She was very very nice. If she can't get a answer tonight she is calling me tomarrow. Sorry I couldn't get you a answer right now. But I will let you know what she says.:goodvibes

Oh My God!!! LAURA! You are AWESOME!!!! I'm literally jumping up and down! :yay: Can I just say I love people from the South?!! Talk about having MANNERS!!! OMG!!! I love you!!!! Thank you thank you!!!!!

I called four places today in Connecticut and one said that they didnt know if it came in other colors and the manager was on vacation (HELLO! It's called YOUR JOB to know!??! grrr), another did not answer their phone, and two gave me the same attitude about how I really need a bridal appointment and when I tried to make an appointment they told me it was probably too soon!! One wanted me to make an appointment in early August and the other in late Fall!! They were even hesitant on those "early" days because it's still so far out until I said I was eventually moving to Cali in the Fall and wanted to get my dress from CT... ok so a little white lie (I may or may not be moving in the Fall, but I don't care about where I get my dress! ;)), but I felt like I needed some excuse!

I got so frustrated that I actually asked about it on Paloma Blanca's website. The sash may have be custom created by Paloma Blanca, so I asked for info on getting it also custom created (probably won't do that for a joe-schmo, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask!) I'm assuming it will probably get caught up in a huge inbox somewhere, but I really hope someone there does get back to me!

I cannot believe that that sweet person in Austin is going to call them! That's awesome!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you again and again Laura!!!!!!

Aw you are very welcome. The lady called back and said they were closed when she tried but she will call first thing in the morning. She is asking about that dress and any other styles that can come with a burnt orange sash. I thought it was kinda funny because she refered to the Fairytale wedding at the castle. I told her the bride that needed it was a DFT bride too. And that you would be getting married at Disney. She is so sweet. I will let you know just as soon as I hear anything.

Awesome!!! Thank you again, Laura!

The pic I posted of the gown with the orange sash is the Disney Dream Bride's dress (sometimes I feel like I am copying a lot of their ideas, but I figure they were all by David Tutera, so it's sorta in the same family  and she's one of the few burnt orange brides (that also incorporated a lot of white and green) I've seen in a while!) I know that the particular style of gown from the picture is 3704 and it does not normally come with a sash, so I assumed the "custom" part was putting one on. It could also be the color, but maybe they would do it again???

The sash on the one I really like (3801) is a similar style of sash, but just the wrong color. I will be keeping my fingers crossed!! Shoot, if I have to fly to Austin to get my dress with the burnt orange sash i will do it!!!! Especially from nice people! And I always wanted to go to Texas! :thumbsup2

If I remember correctly off the top of my head, the sashes from Paloma are silk dupioni (raw silk). The colors they do are generally blue, mocha, pink, natural, and champagne. Those are the colors they put on the swatch cards, but you can always have your salon check with the designer about other possible colors, which is what we do for brides who want something a little more custom. They do have some other colors for specific dresses, like the one in the picture, so they're usually pretty willing to work with customers on changes like that. There could be an extra charge for that though.

I just noticed...you're from Connecticut? Try Yolanda's in Waltham, MA. I used to work there when I lived there, and they usually can get almost any custom change done for you. They're also one of Paloma Blanca's biggest selling retailers. Oh, and if you do end up setting up an appointment there, ask for Darlene. She's the best bridal consultant there, and in my opinion, the nicest. The website is http://www.yolandas.com

If you feel like a drive down to the Jersey shore sometime this summer, you might want to try the "Elegant Alternative", in Spring Lake. (A little closer than Austin!) That's where I got my Paloma Blanca dress. I walked in without an appointment one day and after describing exactly what I was looking for, the shop owner turned around, grabbed a dress off the rack behind her and said, "like this?" It was perfect. She also showed me two other dresses that were absolutely my taste (and one was another Paloma Blanca dress that was very, very tempting.) So I'm one of the lucky brides who buys the first dress she tries on. The shop owner also selected the perfect headpiece and veil for me. She was just really good at sizing me up and understanding my style. I came back a few days later to take some pictures, and I called once to get my veil delivered more quickly (in time for my hair trial-run down in Orlando this past March.) They have been very friendly and professional and wonderful to deal with every time.

BTW, I actually live in Austin but wanted to dress shop with my mom in New Jersey. So if you do fly down here for your dress, let me know!

You live in Austin? How neat I live in Killeen. Small world.

Courtny Serendipity Bridal just called back. That sash doesn't come in burnt orange. Her suggesting was getting the wide ribbon or fabric in that color that you wanted and the seamstress at the shop you buy the dress from can make if for you. They just did this for a bride. Sorry it isn't the greatest news.

I moved down here just over a year ago, so I don't know my way around too well. I actually have you to thank for introducing me to Hobby Lobby! We don't have them in New Jersey. You kept mentioning it in your posts, so I decided to check it out. It's a fun store! That, and the Dollar Stores you mention, which I never thought to try. I found Disney activity/coloring books for the children's tables there. So, thank you for helping a new-to-Austin-area bride!!

Oh yay. Another fun place you might try is Garden Ridge. It is lots of fun. Huge craft/decorating store. And do not forget the Disney outlet in Round Rock.

Thanks! I'd never heard of Garden Ridge. The Disney outlet could be dangerous :)
